Female Therapists in Burlington, WI

Over the past 13 years, I have worked with individuals, families, and couples in a variety of capacities; at a hospital, clinic, community behavioral health organization, and within school settings. I went to graduate school to specifically study how each aspect of our system plays a part in our overall mental and physical health. I’m also certified in Integrative Wellness and Nutrition for Mental Health as well as Addiction Counseling. Feeling better requires changes within your entire system. One’s system might include family, friends, work, exercise, nutrition, school, social activities, alone time, running errands, chores, etc.

I welcome the opportunity to join you on your journey as you work to identify what has you stuck. At this point on your journey, your struggle may be anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, low self-esteem or any other issue, I see these as symptoms of a deep seperation from yourself. Together, as a team, we will discover what has seperated you from yourself and work to move it up and out of your soul so that the energy shifts and you are able to experience true connection to your authentic self. After over 30 years of doing this work, I do not believe one approach fits all so our work will focus on what is best for you.

My ideal client is a deep-thinking, intuitive adult navigating spiritual awakening or the weight of old wounds. They've outgrown surface-level therapy and are ready for sacred, soul-centered healing. Through Sacred Soul Journeys, I guide clients to access inner wisdom, past lives, and root-level clarity so they can remember who they truly are and live with renewed purpose and peace.

I believe that each of us has the potential to become the best version of ourselves. We carry within us all the internal resources needed to achieve this. However, life experiences can sometimes cloud our ability to recognize these strengths and trust in our capacity to use them. Challenges such as addiction, trauma, grief, depression, and anxiety can create obstacles to living a fulfilling life. My goal is to help you overcome these obstacles, integrate your life experiences, and transform negative patterns so you can become the person you aspire to be and create the life you want and deserve.

I usually work first from a practical and cognitive-behavioral level, which may deepen eventually to inner personal levels through use of dreams (from a Jungian perspective) and sometimes Sand Play. I emphasize protection of trust and the therapeutic process as much as possible and help the individuals and family members who I work with to understand the reasoning. Each person is unique and I anticipate and enjoy building a relationship that assumes collaboration. I then work with them toward activating their own healing potential, no matter the age, with the hope that it is a lifelong learning and ability.

I believe within each of us are the answers, solutions, and wisdom needed to address the challenges we face throughout the life cycle. It's normal to doubt our own ability to navigate these issues and find the path through them. My role as therapist with an individual, couple, or family, is to guide. The answers reside within the client/s. My job is to facilitate the person's effort to find what is already there.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
