Child
therapists at
Children
’s Hospital of Orange County stated that providers and parents agree that mental and physical health are intertwined and that a holistic health plan is the most effective for long term health, (Orange County Business Journal, May 2019).
Welcome to Innovative Wellness LLC where we strive to help our client’s holistically, for symptom removal rather than symptom management. Innovative Wellness was developed to help individuals focus on their overall health and wellness to improve their mental health. Traditional talk therapy requires months or years of treatment and doesn’t give long-lasting results. Effectively treating anxiety and depression symptoms goes beyond the therapy sessions. We have used current research from
child
therapists as well as adult therapists, to create a strategic and comprehensive program for both adults and high school age
children
.

My wife and I have experienced the loss of 4
children
in utero and have also gained 3
children
through the experience of foster care and adoption; Having been a Christian pastor for 25 years, I enjoy thinking through spiritual matters with people.
It's hard for most people to ask for help. I get that. But I am of the belief that there are two categories of people: those who could be helped by therapy and those who actually go out and try it. So, if you are stepping out, asking for help, and giving therapy a try - good for you for taking a risk. My goal right off the bat is to build trust with my clients. Regardless of the issue at hand, I believe the most important and powerful tool is to have a trusted relationship in your corner.

It is a privilege to be invited into the lives of others seeking to find peace, awareness and understanding of themselves and their journey through life. Deciding to begin therapy is life changing and finding a therapist with whom you can connect is a large part in achieving a positive therapeutic experience. In my practice, I provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where we can work together to identify and achieve your goals. Therapy is a place to explore, allow ourselves to be vulnerable in a safe environment, challenge and change those points of view and identify healthier ways to engage in your daily living.

Child Therapists
Do I need to attend therapy with my child?
Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.
How long are sessions with child therapists?
Children’s therapy sessions can last 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. The length of the session may depend on your child’s age and the type of therapy practiced. You can discuss this with therapists you consult and the one you ultimately move forward with.
How do I get a child to agree to seek therapy?
The best approach is to have an open-ended conversation with your child about how they’re doing and what they might be struggling with. When you raise therapy, discuss the concept in an age-appropriate way, for example explaining that a therapist’s job is to help kids handle their hard or uncomfortable feelings. Frame therapy positively, as an opportunity to explore and build emotional skills—it’s an important tool in the toolbox to help kids feel their best.
How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?
A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
