As a therapist, I can understand the anxiety and fear surrounding your decision to seek therapy for yourself. I would like to partner with you as you navigate your world. As a therapist, I provide an eclectic approach to counseling, with a belief that in order to understand the present, one must understand his or her past. I operate from a strengths-based perspective because I believe both children and adults are resilient and given the right tools, can solve their own problems.

Is the transition to motherhood more difficult than you expected? Do you wonder what you're doing wrong? You may be tired of the sadness, guilt, worry, scary thoughts, and anger. You may be feeling disconnected and isolated, wondering if you're cut out for motherhood. You might not even remember how you felt before all of this started. But one thing is for sure: you're ready for some relief. You're ready to start feeling like yourself again. You're ready to reconnect with your loved ones and enjoy your children. Most of all, you're ready to find joy and contentment in motherhood.

I specialize in women’s mental health, specifically perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, and also see young adults experiencing various life transitions. Whether you're a new parent and experiencing intrusive thoughts, anxiety, or depression, or you are feeling lost and unsure due to different life circumstances and changes, it can be hard to experience the great joy of these new beginnings when you're not feeling your best. I utilize Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as well as a collaborative, non-judgemental approach where we will explore the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that are interfering with your ability to thrive.

I practice from a multicultural, feminist, anti-oppressive perspective and specialize in women's mental health, immigrant mental health, perinatal counseling (fertility, adoption, surrogacy, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, motherhood), and tough life transitions.
Hello, it is lovely to have you here! Are you feeling overwhelmed by the weight of society's expectations, where you're expected to be everything all at once—successful, nurturing, strong, and perfect? Perhaps past trauma still lingers, making it hard to reconnect with yourself. Maybe you’re juggling work, family, and everything else, struggling to find balance. It’s easy to feel like the world isn’t built to support you, especially in today’s political climate. Together, we’ll explore these feelings, heal from past wounds, and find your path toward peace and empowerment.

You're extremely hard-working, ambitious, and driven. This has gotten you far not only in your work, but in anything you've set your mind to. Failure has not been an option. However, something has changed. The grind and hustle that came so easily before doesn't come so easily anymore. You don't have the energy to juggle it all like you used to-work, your family time, romance, friendships, and taking time for your self care. You're lost, exhausted, and burnt out, wondering how to get back to feeling like you're in control of what comes at you versus just barely getting by on a day to day basis. You want your power back.

Welcome! I view symptoms as messengers of deeper emotional truths that have not yet been acknowledged. Oftentimes, the more we try to avoid or resist them, the stronger they insist on being heard. Through your earliest relationships, you learned which pieces of yourself to hide in order to maintain connection; which emotions were safe to express; and what to expect from others. Over time, these patterns internalized and became the way you relate to yourself and others. You might have learned to suppress your anger, to feel responsible for others’ actions, or that closeness results in disappointment.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
