Not accepting new clients. Hello! I'm Karen Haag, and Wholehearted Counseling is my completely virtual private practice. I specialize in working with women with trauma, particularly childhood abuse, sexual abuse, incest, and emotional abuse. Together, we explore the impact of past experiences on the brain, body, and mind. We work to identify the negative self-scripts and worldviews that are the result of trauma, and to replace these with more realistic, adaptive, and compassionate internal and external responses. My style of therapy is warm and down to earth, and my primary goal is to create a genuine human-to-human relationship.
Most often, I see people who have experienced complex trauma, and I specialize in supporting individuals who have been emotionally abused in a way that has led to self-doubt and insecurity. I operate from a feminist and humanistic approach, and utilize a variety of interventions, including IFS, ACT, and EFT - always personalized for the individual.
While healing from complex trauma takes time and is not linear, it is possible in the context of an emotionally safe environment. If you’re ready to acknowledge and address areas of difficulty and pain in your life, you will be met with empathy, respect, and we will form a therapeutic relationship in which you feel felt, rather than alone or misunderstood.
