Welcome to Cicada Song counseling! As a lifelong mental health advocate and a therapist for over a decade I have developed three convictions central to my practice (1) Your relationship with your therapist should be collaborative and authentic. (2) Therapy is not just about talk. It’s about progress towards quality of life (3) You already contain everything you need to heal. I aim to provide space where you can build security within yourself to move through pain. We will identify and build upon your existing strengths and coping skills. We will get curious about self doubt, then develop more realistic beliefs about yourself.
We will prioritize reconnection to self and feeling safe in your body. The goal? Hope builds. Confidence grows. Survival will shift into security. As a midwesterner, the cicada’s song has signaled a season of change. It’s present during transformation and renewal. Humans experience pressure for growth from inside and outside of themselves.
Fear, anxiety, depression, self-doubt, addiction, compulsivity and loneliness can feel like a pressure cooker. Like the cicada, we stay underground in those emotional landscapes. We can feel trapped, but pain builds energy and motivation to take action. Congratulations on taking action today towards your own healing.
