I am currently accepting new clients, both in office and for telehealth. If you are reading this, you may have wondered if you could benefit from counseling, but perhaps are unsure how to find the right therapist, get started, or what to expect. Utilizing more than 28 years of experience, I help clients successfully manage depression, anxiety, grief, relationship difficulties, substance-use, eating, body image, and stress-related issues in a judgment-free, supportive environment.
Licensed Professional Counselor, MEd, LPC, RYT 200, ACS
Losing a loved one can be the most difficult time in your life. Emotions are often surprising in their strength or mildness. Grief often breaks a person completely from the inside out. Grieving is hard work, you can get worn out, and feel battered. It can take a lot longer to work through grief than most people realize. People around you may think it’s helpful for you to not talk or cry or focus on your loss but actually, this is just what people need to do. The goal is to not stay stuck, to move through it—and this is part of the process. Grief doesn’t get better by ignoring it and trying to ‘get over it.’
I am a New York State-licensed Psychologist and a Certified Interpersonal Psychoanalyst. During more than 20 years of counseling, I have developed a unique blend of Interpersonal psychoanalytic, cognitive-behavioral and mind-body awareness promoting techniques to help patients achieve creative, professional and relational goals, and reduce anxiety and depression. All of us, through adapting to childhood experience, develop limiting fears and blind spots. I can help you to identify blocks to happiness, intimacy and serenity, and to develop new, more satisfying behaviors.
There are many challenges that our young population and adult population face. I want to hear your story and work alongside you to let your best self shine! My ideal client is someone who is motivated and willing to commit towards the path of internal growth. From grade school to adulthood, I am here with you every step of the way to navigate this thing called life. I enjoy working with individuals who experience school issues, anxiety, self esteem, depression, transition into adulthood, family issues, relationship/friendship issues, trauma, and careers.
With over 40 years as a practicing psychologist, I have learned that it is not just the latest technique that helps people change, but being deeply understood in a trusting therapy relationship. My aim is to help you not only to recover from your immediate emotional problems, but to explore the interpersonal blind spots that contributed to their development so that you can find more fulfillment and satisfaction in your life.
The longest journey begins with a single step and I am grateful to walk that path with you. It can be frightening and intimidating to begin the process of therapy; however, that experience can help you to make the changes that lead to a happier and more fulfilled life. Through a collaborative and safe relationship I establish with my clients, progress and change is made. Areas of practice include mood disorders, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, men's concerns, and ADHD and cognitive functioning (including testing services). I also enjoy working with clients from adolescents to seniors.
I help my clients in a warm, empathic, and confidential manner. Life can be difficult, uncertain, and overwhelming at times requiring support. I help individuals develop adaptive coping skills, regain direction, live healthier, and find hope.
My goal is to help the client in gaining faith in themselves so they refuse to address their life with, "I can't " and, instead see their life as "I am doing.....". Addiction, Anxiety, and, as is the case with many other mental health issues, are resolvable & faith in self & in their spiritual Source is the key...I'll provide them the problem-solving tools and challenge them to develop a positive attitude.. so that they realize their self-worth..
I offer a safe and comfortable space to explore areas of your life that you want to improve, changes you want to make, and work on figuring out who you are and what you want to be. I believe in therapy as a partnership and I feel privileged to be a part of the journey towards whatever goals you may have. Life is complicated and painful at times. But you don't have to deal with it alone.
Seeking help and counseling is a courageous act. My ideal client is one who is willing to take the leap and allow me to join alongside your journey of healing. I enjoy working with individuals who experience Veteran and/or military-related concerns, mood and anxiety disorders, adjustment concerns, substance abuse, relationship issues, family of origin concerns, men and women's issues, identity development, crisis intervention, self-esteem/insecurities, trauma, and most other reported stressors or adversity. I am also prior service military and have some insight regarding this culture.
