Losing a loved one can be the most difficult time in your life. Emotions are often surprising in their strength or mildness. Grief often breaks a person completely from the inside out. Grieving is hard work, you can get worn out, and feel battered. It can take a lot longer to work through grief than most people realize. People around you may think it’s helpful for you to not talk or cry or focus on your loss but actually, this is just what people need to do. The goal is to not stay stuck, to move through it—and this is part of the process. Grief doesn’t get better by ignoring it and trying to ‘get over it.’

More than anything we want to be loved, accepted and have meaningful relationships. Having people we can rely on, trust and enjoy life with gives us joy, purpose and the support we need to be ourselves and get through life's challenges. Finding and having meaningful relationships, however, can be challenging. Whether you are ending a relationship, starting a new one or have been hurt by someone you are close to, it can be scary to deal with the pain, start over or know how to be yourself. In some cases, we may even feel lost, need help healing, coping or rediscovering what makes us us and what makes us happy.

My goal is to assist in facilitating lasting change and empower individuals to feel more grounded in the present and hopeful about the future. I am a New York State-licensed Psychologist and a Certified Interpersonal Psychoanalyst. During more than 20 years of counseling, I have developed a unique blend of Interpersonal psychoanalytic, cognitive-behavioral and mind-body awareness promoting techniques to help patients achieve creative, professional and relational goals, and reduce anxiety and depression. All of us, through adapting to childhood experience, develop limiting fears and blind spots. I can help you to identify blocks to happiness, intimacy and serenity, and to develop new, more satisfying behaviors.

With over 40 years as a practicing psychologist, I have learned that it is not just the latest technique that helps people change, but being deeply understood in a trusting therapy relationship. My aim is to help you not only to recover from your immediate emotional problems, but to explore the interpersonal blind spots that contributed to their development so that you can find more fulfillment and satisfaction in your life.

Are you feeling disconnected ? Feeling stuck? Overwhelmed? Sometimes our experiences and circumstances leave us struggling to get through the day to day. Or, maybe you are managing, but you're left feeling depleted and exhausted. Whether you are managing a mental health diagnosis, experiencing a difficult life transition, or struggling with unhelpful self-talk, it can take a toll. I believe all people inherently possess the capacity to make life- enriching, meaningful change. Sometimes, we just need extra support to sort through all that life might throw at us in order to make those changes.

The longest journey begins with a single step and I am grateful to walk that path with you. It can be frightening and intimidating to begin the process of therapy; however, that experience can help you to make the changes that lead to a happier and more fulfilled life. Through a collaborative and safe relationship I establish with my clients, progress and change is made. Areas of practice include mood disorders, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, men's concerns, and ADHD and cognitive functioning (including testing services). I also enjoy working with clients from adolescents to seniors.

Seeking help and counseling takes courage. Therapy can provide a safe place to identify struggles and find new ways to navigate challenging situations. I work with individuals who experience Veteran and/or military-related concerns; boundary setting, imposter syndrome, family of origin issues, family-related trauma, or attachment ruptures, anxiety, depression, and trauma. I am also prior service military and have some insight regarding this culture.

I provide counseling to adult individuals, couples, and polycules. My continuing education and ongoing research focuses primarily on Anxiety Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Identity Development, and Eating Disorders. I help clients look beyond capitalistic constructs for a sense of calm, clarity, identity, and belonging. My clients see the systems that we live in that impact their mental health and are seeking a life beyond binaries and dichotomies. My clients are eager to disrupt tired patterns and are unfulfilled by the status quo. Collaborative diagnosis and treatment planning are foundational.
