Losing a loved one can be the most difficult time in your life. Emotions are often surprising in their strength or mildness. Grief often breaks a person completely from the inside out. Grieving is hard work, you can get worn out, and feel battered. It can take a lot longer to work through grief than most people realize. People around you may think it’s helpful for you to not talk or cry or focus on your loss but actually, this is just what people need to do. The goal is to not stay stuck, to move through it—and this is part of the process. Grief doesn’t get better by ignoring it and trying to ‘get over it.’

With over 40 years as a practicing psychologist, I have learned that it is not just the latest technique that helps people change, but being deeply understood in a trusting therapy relationship. My aim is to help you not only to recover from your immediate emotional problems, but to explore the interpersonal blind spots that contributed to their development so that you can find more fulfillment and satisfaction in your life.

I feel privileged to have worked as a helping professional for over 25 years. I became a social worker after serving on active duty in the United States Army. I began my career serving children, adolescents, their parents and families, in their home, school and community settings. I’ve been a foster adoptive parent to troubled and troubling children and am proudly the father of our 13, year old multiple diagnosis special needs daughter. I’ve dedicated myself to helping people learn to heal from trauma and mental health symptoms in general by helping them to develop their personal best path forward.

Are you feeling disconnected ? Feeling stuck? Overwhelmed? Sometimes our experiences and circumstances leave us struggling to get through the day to day. Or, maybe you are managing, but you're left feeling depleted and exhausted. Whether you are managing a mental health diagnosis, experiencing a difficult life transition, or struggling with unhelpful self-talk, it can take a toll. I believe all people inherently possess the capacity to make life- enriching, meaningful change. Sometimes, we just need extra support to sort through all that life might throw at us in order to make those changes.

The longest journey begins with a single step and I am grateful to walk that path with you. It can be frightening and intimidating to begin the process of therapy; however, that experience can help you to make the changes that lead to a happier and more fulfilled life. Through a collaborative and safe relationship I establish with my clients, progress and change is made. Areas of practice include mood disorders, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, men's concerns, and ADHD and cognitive functioning (including testing services). I also enjoy working with clients from adolescents to seniors.

Hi! I'm Erica, owner of MindCare! Beginning therapy means different things to different people, but it is often an action of courage, hope, self-care, and self-determination. You may or may not have been to a therapist before. If this is your first experience with therapy, you might feel a bit nervous or apprehensive. That's normal! Therapy is a process that allows you the freedom and privacy to discuss issues that are often painful or difficult to discuss with family and/or friends. I believe that in the process of our work together, you can begin to feel more at home within yourself and with your relationships.

Hi. I'm Linda. I'm a therapist in Huntington, WV; and I was inspired to become a licensed therapist because people naturally confide in me; friends, family, strangers. They came to me when they were going through hard times. As a therapist, I often work with people who are at a crossroads and struggling with making the right decisions. I work with those who are seeking to get some relief in their battle with anxiety and depression. I help people make progress in their recovery, or to pick up the pieces after a relapse. I work with clients that are seeking to do more than just cope with what life is dishing out.

I offer a safe and comfortable space to explore areas of your life that you want to improve, changes you want to make, and work on figuring out who you are and what you want to be. I believe in therapy as a partnership and I feel privileged to be a part of the journey towards whatever goals you may have. Life is complicated and painful at times. Seeking help takes courage. Therapy can provide a space to learn more about yourself and find new ways to navigate life’s challenges. I work with individuals who experience military-related concerns; boundary setting, imposter syndrome, family of origin issues, family-related trauma, or attachment ruptures, anxiety, depression, and trauma. I am also prior service military and have some insight regarding this culture.

Therapy-seekers who are curious about how our systems impact their mental health, eager to disrupt mediocrity, unfulfilled by the status quo, and seeking a life beyond binaries are a good fit for my practice. Together, we can look beyond normative capitalistic constructs for a sense of home, calm, clarity, identity, fulfillment, and belonging.
