I believe in a rapport-based approach to therapy: mainly authenticity in communication and interpersonal development of relationships. I aim to remove stigmas and depathologize issues, focusing on outcomes over symptoms. My philosophy is that people are often unaware of their core values, or stressors have made them seem far too distant. When building acceptance around the reality of problems facing families, and focusing on objectives that improve wellness, change can occur. The behavioral interventions, objectivity, and support found in the therapeutic relationship help lead individuals and families to their goals.
I specialize in behavior disorders, ADHD, Autism, family conflict, adjustment, psychological evaluations, depression, and anxiety. I typically work with ages 2-19 and young adults, but see some adult age clients, as well. I prefer ACT, family systems, and behavioral interventions for therapy clients, but am flexible depending on an individual's needs.
It's usually one of the worst days in a person's life when they choose to reach out to a psychologist. They've probably tried everyone they can think of before that point to get support: family friends, relatives, community leaders, school officials, coaches, and so on. It doesn't have to be. My partners and I work to ease the burden of reaching out.
