About
I treat couples and individuals, specializing in sexual and relationship problems, sexual abuse and PTSD, as well as depression and anxiety. I know that it takes courage to make that first phone call. Having empathy and even a sense of humor, when appropriate, helps my clients with this initial step. I work together with my clients to identify and change dysfunctional patterns of thought and behavior. My style is warm, direct, and interactive.
While medications can be helpful in some circumstances, sexual dysfunctions are often caused by misinformation, communication and intimacy problems, power conflicts, and previous sexual trauma. A satisfying sexual relationship involves more than getting all the physical parts working. We and our relationships are more than the sum of our parts.
I strongly believe in empowering my clients by engaging them in a collaborative partnership. This includes careful assessment, mutually developing treatment goals, and sharing the plan and method of achieving their desired changes. My clients have told me they appreciate a respectful, egalitarian approach, and my open and accessible style.
