I am Wendy Couch, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with over 8 years of clinical experience. I work with young adults, adults, and geriatrics and have experience in a variety of clinical settings, including community mental health and the VA Department of Corrections. I have worked with individuals who have depression, bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety, and substance and alcohol use disorders. I also have experience working with individuals experiencing major life transitions, including divorce, occupational changes, grief, and stress.
I received my graduate degree in Community Counseling and Addictions from the College of William and Mary. I work primarily with individuals and groups and utilize dialectical behavioral therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy to help individuals develop coping skills, manage emotions, and improve communication skills.
I also integrate mindfulness into my clinical practice and advocate for yoga and other activities that promote a strong mind-body connection. My therapeutic style is based on developing a genuine, positive, and honest relationship with individuals. My personal interests include spending time with family, hiking, and traveling.
