My name is Kristin D. Montes. I am dedicated to providing compassionate counseling services to individuals and families struggling with the grief journey. My goal is to support my clients through the grief journey at their pace. I have a close understanding of traumatic/complicated grief, as I have worked with clients who have suffered loss through violent crime, suicide, accidental overdose, and sudden natural causes.
Fostering an understanding of grief as a lifelong and evolving process is my goal. There is no cure for grief, but there is a way to carry it and allow it to move within the person, not against the person.
I utilize skills from a companioning model (Wolfelt), finding meaning and ritual (Kessler and Weller), CBT, Positive Psychology, Mindfulness, Expressive Arts, and Sand Tray Therapy.
Grief is misunderstood in our society. Reaching out for help and not walking alone is so important. Understanding that grief is unique to the individual. Family members can experience vastly different symptoms. As we walk together, you will process your grief, understand the course it takes, and develop meaning to your life and the life of your loved one.
