I have over 20 years of experience working with adults, adolescents and their families who are dealing with a variety of behavioral health, alcohol and drug abuse issues. My experience has shown me that by changing unhealthy patterns, expressing fears and concerns and taking gentle risks, it is possible to live a satisfying life regardless of what or how long your struggle. I use a combination of techniques depending on issues presented and we will work together on both short and long term goals.

Sometimes our ability to accept what we can't change is tied to our willingness to change what we can. It has been my privilege to work with diverse populations across Texas, Louisiana and Alaska, including residential substance abuse, Youth & Families and Active Duty Military & their families. I use CBT, strength-based and existential modalities to help a client reach their goals, problem solve and manage their mental health needs. We offer dual diagnosis/co-occurring mental health services for individuals seeking help with depression, anxiety, grief, mood, and substance abuse issues. We are approved examiners for the Board of Nursing (BON) and the Texas Peer Assistance Program for Nurses (TPAPN). We also provide DUI, court-ordered alcohol and substance abuse assessments, DOT SAP, immigration, and domestic violence (VAWA) evaluations and assessments.

I have over 10 years of experience in helping adults, couples, individuals, groups, and children with issues such as substance abuse, anger management, behavioral problems, mental health disorders, grief, chronic illnesses, school issues, parenting issues, domestic violence, criminal stipulations, and marital problems. I also offer LCSW Clinical Supervision.

Earning my Bachelors of Science in Psychology as well as my Masters of Science in Mental Health Counseling has provided me with the knowledge, skill, and technique to work towards guiding clients to work towards peace and growth.The desire to motivate people to work towards their goals developed early in my college years when I worked as a mentor for a local community ministry in a small college town.

I specialize in couples counseling and adult relationships. I have been doing couples work since 1977 and also have experience teaching graduate students in Marriage and Family Counseling. Courses included Separation, Divorce and Remarriage as well as Introduction to Marriage and Family Counseling. Previously I was Director of the Counseling Center at University of Houston where I had a staff of Psychologists and trained Psychologists.
