Earning my Bachelors of Science in Psychology as well as my Masters of Science in Mental Health Counseling has provided me with the knowledge, skill, and technique to work towards guiding clients to work towards peace and growth.The desire to motivate people to work towards their goals developed early in my college years when I worked as a mentor for a local community ministry in a small college town.

I always like to say God gave me children early in my adult life because I was meant to help children in their own life struggles. I fully believe that God has plans for us even if we do not fully understand them! When our children face struggles that we cannot understand or feel equipped to help them with, we can feel lost and overwhelmed. Children and adolescents are often placed in situation and have experiences that are out of their control.

It was during college that I first experienced the counseling profession as a client. At that time, I struggled with an eating disorder and anxiety. Thanks to great counseling, I fully recovered. It's there that I developed a passion for sharing my experience. I am able to meet clients where they are in their journey because I understand the process of healing. Amanda is an experienced therapist interested in treating complex trauma and autism. Her approach includes a holistic view of the client's supports, lifestyle, and nutrition as it relates to their current functioning. She has extensive training and experience in treating trauma, autism, depression, bi-polar disorder, and anxiety. She believes the brain-gut connection needs to be explored in therapy due to the gut microbiome's involvement in producing neurotransmitters. Her approach to mental health is modern and informed with the goal to treat and introduce optimal health.

I have successfully taught children as early as those in Program Head Start, before becoming a Texas Teacher & School Counselor, and ultimately a LPC-Supervisor . As a child advocate who tries to understand the needs of the child in hopes of helping with mental or emotional turmoil. One may say or think that I specialize in treating children? This would be false, because I can't recall a situation where I could help the child without helping the parents, and even the whole family. Family history and dynamics plays a "Huge" role in your child's development and behaviors.

For individual, couples, adults and teens, the pursuit of ones therapeutic goals is a deeply personal endeavor, one that entails time, effort, occasional discomfort and some expense. I have over 10 years of experience in helping adults, couples, individuals, groups, and children with issues such as substance abuse, anger management, behavioral problems, mental health disorders, grief, chronic illnesses, school issues, parenting issues, domestic violence, criminal stipulations, and marital problems.
