I completed the following degrees, licenses, & certifications to provide comprehensive care for clients: Registered Nurse, Functional Medicine Practitioner, Board-Certified Faith-Based Therapist, Psychology Graduate, Licensed Minister, & Certified Life/Wellness Coach. I am fundamentally motivated to lead others to overcome challenges & odds as I serve them by offering advice, education, treatment & emotional support helping to make an impact that produces positive substantial changes in their lives. In addition, I utilize labs and licensed pharmaceutical-grade nutraceuticals to help my clients achieve better health.

I'm about love, self-compassion, radical acceptance, embracing failure, trusting your innate wisdom and starting over. I fundamentally believe in every person's ability to recover from trauma, addiction and life, in general. Experience has taught me that no one is really avoiding anything. When people accuse you of not dealing with something, what they are really saying is you aren't dealing with it the way they want you to. From my perspective, if you wake up every morning and breathe in and out all day long, you're dealing with your stuff. A tiny bit of intention is all it takes to begin healing.

Hi there! My name is Dr. Ana Alicia Potthast, DSW, LCSW, LCDC. I have a passion for mental health care and substance abuse treatment, and I have extensive experience and training in behavioral health, diagnostics, addiction, co-occurring disorders, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, trauma, domestic violence, sexual abuse and assault, maternity and fertility issues, grief and loss, hoarding, family dynamics and conflict, marital issues, sexual orientation and gender identification and expression, adjustment issues, stages in life, and many other situations that bring a client to seek counseling.

It takes strength and courage to accept when one can't handle parts of life, and so, I commend you. As a therapist, I accompany clients exactly where they are while offering unconditional acceptance and respect without judgement to build a safe and inviting counseling environment. Each client brings a set of unique morals, values, beliefs, and strengths which makes each person who they are. I entered the field of counseling because of a desire to help those in crisis or who are experiencing difficulties in their lives. I realized I wanted to be a counselor while working at a local community college. I saw students who were struggling academically but were very bright. I came to understand that there are many factors that go into being successful at life. I have always had a helping nature but didn’t fully understand why people behaved they way they did. Through my education and experience I can now help people in their personal lives, relationships and careers.

I enjoy working with people from ages 16- 35. These are exciting and challenging times. Many people graduate from high school, go to college, start careers and start families. These are times when people begin to get to know themselves and become their true selves. These transitions can come with unique challenges. Sometimes one's values do not align with their families values, or their talents are not celebrated in their community. It can be very difficult to balance the demands of school, extra-curricular activities and a social life. Also, life doesn't stand still so difficult events like death, divorce and break-ups happen.

I have over 25 years experience providing Substance Abuse and Mental Health Treatment in a great deal of diverse settings. I am interested in learning more about (you ) and (your ) goals and objectives for therapy. I believe a counseling relationship works best when you are comfortable with a therapist and free to be who you are. I help you reach this goal by bringing to the session , experience , honesty of myself , kindness and genuine regard. I am part of the Veteran Choice Programs to receive VA referrals.
