I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker- Supervisor who specialized in trauma informed practices.
I am one of a HANDFUL of Filipina American therapists based in Houston, the fourth largest and most diverse city in the nation. I am trilingual in English and the Filipino dialects: Tagalog and Cebuano. I have a unique understanding of the bicultural/immigrant experience, being an immigrant myself. I believe everyone has an innate need to feel seen and valued. This is my goal in my practice: that the person sitting in front of me knows their value and provide a safe space to process the jagged edges of life. I want to ensure that the goals clients have in therapy are met and to empower them to face the other side of my office door.

HOPE is what initiates change. Imagine a life where your family was no longer defined by your child's trauma, fear, sadness, guilt, shame, or anger. What a freeing experience that would be! An individual can only be as happy as their least happy loved one- as hurt occurs within the context of relationships, so does healing. Hoping for a stable, safe, and happy family is what marks readiness for therapy. Little people with big problems may effortlessly grow into big people with bigger problems, so the critical nature of childhood and adolescence provides opportunity to shift this life trajectory.

You may be grappling with a history of trauma or PTSD, experiencing high levels of anxiety, struggling with managing ADHD symptoms, or facing substance use or addiction issues. You could also be dealing with identity-related challenges, particularly if they are part of the LGBTQAI+ communities. Family dynamics, interpersonal relationships, and career-related stressors might also be contributing factors to your concerns.

We offer client-centered care that is trauma informed and inclusive.
We provide psychological evaluations and psychotherapy to serve clients who are ready to embark upon the journey of healing by assessing and processing unresolved issues and exploring unsettled emotions and behavior. Our goal is to help clients gain insight into symptoms that have affected their daily lives and relationships by supporting clients’ exploration into what underlies their issues. The question is not “What’s wrong with you” but rather “What happened to you, and how can you become a better version of yourself?"

One aspect of the human experience that has become of particular interest to me is trauma.
I use a variety of theoretical approaches with my clients including but not limited to cognitive behavioral therapy, somatic experiencing, trauma informed yoga, family systems, solution focused and strengths perspective. I also practice all these approaches through a trauma informed lens. It is extremely important to me to meet the client where they are and create a collaborative and safe therapeutic relationship. The work that I do is not only something that I am passionate about but love dearly. I am here to help you recognize your strengths even in the most challenging of moments. You are self knowing. You are not alone.

I have a private practice in which I focus on trauma, grief, family of origin, interpersonal relationships, and codependency issues.
Therapy can be daunting, and the process can be slow and tough. It also brings opportunity. Opportunity can bring hope, new coping skills, a different perspective, healing, and so much more. The hardest part - but often the most exciting part - can be deciding where to begin. I value and honor the starts, stops, and all that is in between. I have been in the clinical mental health field since 1986, so one could say I've been around the block. With that experience, I help my clients find their paths, and I serve as a witness to their growth.

In this instance, life challenges us to grow and heal. Together we will learn how to navigate and manage through life stressors that impacts your life.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
