Family Village Counseling Center is a telehealth only mental health agency. We have multiple therapists with many years experience, offering services children, teens, families, adults and couples. Our therapists offer laid-back, flexible services, to allow you to feel more comfortable in connecting with a therapist that meets your therapeutic needs. We accept Medicaid and are in network with most major commercial insurance plans. We do offer private pay options for individuals and can explore payment plans or a sliding scale fee if needed.

It's tough to be a kid or teen right now and it's tough to parent a kid or teen. The more motivated a young person and their family are to improve, the more successful we are in therapy. It will go best when everyone is (1) honest enough to really get to know themselves, (2) empathetic enough to care about the effects their choices and actions have on others, and (3) brave enough to do things differently so they can feel better, have healthier relationships, and enjoy more successes.

I have been working with the members of our community for over eight years and have partnered with various agencies throughout the city to ensure success for my clients. Throughout my education and experience, I have found that the therapeutic approaches I favor, but not limited to, are Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I would like to utilize my experience gained throughout my career to empower clients from all age ranges with-in the Lexington community.

Hi, my name is Kara Hardesty and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have been a therapist for 8 years since I graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Masters in Social Work degree. My therapy services include Evidenced Based Treatments including: Solution Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivation Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. My approach to therapy is solution focused and the importance of living in the present and in the moment and focusing on the future.

I offer psychotherapy, as well as, psychological evaluations: ADHD, developmental delays, behavior problems, IQ, advanced placement, disability consideration, emotional support animals, etc. I provide therapy for a variety of emotional/behavioral issues for all ages. I have a special interest in toddlers/preschoolers/children with developmental/behavioral/emotional problems and women with depression/anxiety. I enjoy helping parents learn how to best help their children to become happy and successful. I do parent coordination as well. I have a farm office, so is a much less formal atmosphere. Bring your pet or borrow mine!

My approach is person-centered and non-judgmental. I specialize in working with substance use disorders but also have experience working with many other mental health disorders.

In my 20-plus years in mental health, I have worked with individuals from ALL walks of life including prominent professionals, fellow clinicians, and a vast variety of others. This broad spectrum has taught me many valuable lessons, but one holds true; everyone can benefit from therapy at some point in their lives. In my experience, it is the client who recognizes a problem and is determined to correct it, who does the best in therapy. My primary goal is to meet you human to human in the most objective space possible. I can assure you a safe, confidential space with a compassionate ear.

Let's talk about trauma. How common is it? The National Center on PTSD estimates 60% of men and 50% of women will experience at least one trauma in their lifetime. Experiencing trauma isn't a rare event, it can happen to anyone. Common reactions to traumatic experiences include feeling detached or numb, feeling on guard, experiencing nightmares or unwanted thoughts about the trauma, and going out of your way to avoid reminders of the event. If you’ve been through something in your past, and you can’t seem to escape it in the present, you have the power to stop it from disrupting your future.

As a therapist, I focus on helping individuals heal, become inspired, and aware of their inner strengths. I firmly believe that every one of us has the ability to overcome our struggles and reach our full potential. The first step in this journey is to listen. I prioritize creating a safe and non-judgmental space for my clients to share their concerns, fears, and goals. Opening up to a stranger can be intimidating, so I strive to build a trusting and supportive relationship with my clients.

I have worked with clients in recovery from addiction and sexual trauma. I am currently seeing clients 16 years old and older including families and couples. I've worked with those struggling with grief, relationship issues, addiction, anxiety, depression, and issues related to identity.

I love my work and offer clients a safe and supportive environment to process unpleasant and 2 uncomfortable emotions such as anxiety, struggles with parenting, issues related to transitions in life, eating disorders/disordered eating, and grief. I aim to partner with you to learn how to accept and cope with the inevitable pain and stress of being a human.

Life is full of decisions, every day is a choice. That is a mantra I have believed and lived by for many years. Sometimes the choice requires having the courage to begin again...start over...wipe the slate clean. I have made that decision myself which involved working against fear, insecurities, and many other obstacles. Life does not always give us the opportunity to make lemonade. Sometimes we have to throw away the lemons life dishes us and decide to make something new. I specialize in helping people from a variety of backgrounds with making those decisions and learning how to live with new perspectives, thoughts, and behaviors.
