As a psychotherapist, I utilize a holistic approach and integrate mental and psychical health. I am passionate about facilitating change and meeting clients where they are in their wellness journey. It is my goal to help nurture a sense of safety and self-love and provide a non-judemental space for clients to be the most authentic version of themselves.

Dr. Terry Lusher, Psy. D., L. P. C., is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of West Virginia. He started Encouraging Words, Inc. along with his wife Deborah in 1996. As a Vietnam veteran, he is able to relate to survivor and trauma recovery issues. Terry brings a wealth of professional skills and personal experiences to his therapeutic relationships. He spent about twenty years working with emotionally and behaviorally disturbed adolescents in treatment programs in Texas, Oklahoma, North Carolina, and West Virginia.

My approach is kind, direct and compassionate. You as a client, are my number one priority. We all are different so that means we all need different things to help us grow! My focus is to meet you where you are, assess your strengths and uniqueness, then work together to find a way to utilize and integrate those into accomplishing your goals. I like to gently push my clients toward openness, vulnerability and change. It’s so important to feel heard. It IS necessary for healing, & change. I am committed to offering a safe space for you to learn more about you and meet your goals. You deserve the opportunity to explore your feelings.

The longest journey begins with a single step and I am grateful to walk that path with you. It can be frightening and intimidating to begin the process of therapy; however, that experience can help you to make the changes that lead to a happier and more fulfilled life. Through a collaborative and safe relationship I establish with my clients, progress and change is made. Areas of practice include mood disorders, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, men's concerns, and ADHD and cognitive functioning (including testing services). I also enjoy working with clients from adolescents to seniors.

My name is Jamie Downs and I am a LICSW and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor providing psychotherapy services and individualized addictions counseling to those living in Morgantown, WV and the surrounding areas. Hometown Healing is a family owned practice. Brynn and Jesse Simmons established the practice in 2020 to provide the community with a new approach to therapy and overall wellness. We currently have two clinicians, Heather Carr, LGSW and Brynn Simmons, LPC. Hometown Healing offers therapy for all ages. Together we can identify goals to help make changes in your life, or manage hard, overwhelming feelings.

As a therapist, I see my role as one of helping you change the things you want to change, teaching you some ways to do this and helping explore your life. Old ways can be changed, new ways can be learned. Looking at the way you think about you and your individual experiences, using methods such as CBT and alternative techniques, is part of my therapy work. I am not married to one particular style, but to what works and is effective for you as an individual. I work iprimarily ndividually, amd with some couples. I see teens who are over 17. I am easy to talk to.
