My goal is to assist clients with their desire to change, heal and grow. I typically work with adults with a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, PTSD, developmental/ attachment trauma, self-esteem, body image, and phase of life problems. I also have interest in working with individuals with reproductive challenges (infertility, pregnancy loss, and post-partum issues), new parent adjustment, couples counseling, and severe mental illness. In addition to psychotherapy and consultation, I offer full comprehensive assessments for a better understanding of your cognitive, social and emotional functioning.

My job as a licensed clinical social worker is not only to support you with whatever issue is taking place, but also to make you feel comfortable and safe to communicate what is usually very personal.

TELETHERAPY Ideally, I want to create an environment that allows my clients to find their way, learn about themselves, and grow to be leaders in their treatment. The approaches I use give clients the ability to take the initiative, evaluate and then make a plan of action. Making the decision to enter into therapy is a challenge in itself. But in the end I want to meet the client where they are at and go from there. Where applicable I use Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, play therapy, career/coaching and other modalities in practice.

Dr. Joan Moore (she/her) has a passion for helping people navigate the complexities of life and strives to assist them with reaching their personal goals. Joan uses a cognitive behavioral, trauma-informed, and integrative approach to help individuals and couples explore their thoughts, emotions, and life experiences. Joan is particularly interested in working with survivors of trauma, adults, couples, adolescents and their families, and individuals from marginalized communities. She takes a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach, recognizing the impact systemic oppression and stigma can have on a person's wellbeing.

I treat children as young as three, have experience with school phobia, adoption, blended families, gender issues, gay, lesbian, and transgender individuals, and the challenges of elderly. I am experienced working with psychoses, severe post traumatic stress disorder, eating disorders, body dysmorphic disorder, and problems of every day life. I have special expertise working with the LGBTQ+ population, with adolescents, sexual development, severe mental illness, post traumatic stress disorder, and physical illnesses.

I have tremendous respect for people who make the difficult decision to enter in to psychotherapy.
