If you’d rather not spend tons of time in "talk therapy", try Biofeedback , a system that balances brainwave activity to help your body rest and relax.
Are you feeling stressed out and overwhelmed? Are there too many pressures and changes that leave you feeling like you are in a hole that you can't get out of? Especially lately, has life thrown you too many unexpected and hard twists and turns that leave you feeling hopeless?

I seek to create a space where all the different aspects of who you are may feel welcome. Compassion and trust are at the core of our work. Together, we will pay attention to the specific issue that brought you into counseling, as well as various aspects of your life and relationships. I love exploring the connection between the mind and the body, and for folks who are eager to explore this connection, I integrate counseling with BodyTalk (a biofeedback -based somatic modality).

I use hypnosis as well as autogenic biofeedback , neurolinguistic programming, and music/sound techniques for options to help you achieve successful results with your issues.
Many of my clients need help with anxiety, pain, bad habits, relationships, sexuality, fears, and phobias. Issues my clients have and specific treatment areas (see my web site) range from tooth grinding, reducing chronic pain, improving performance in sports, stopping smoking, weight loss, anxiety about medical or dental procedures, sex issues, sleep problems, spiritual conflicts, setting goals and addressing mental "blocks," resolving past issues in life, to improving relationships. I help people learn to relax and how to have personal "tools" to "dial down" stress, pain, and anxiety to become healthy, happy, and centered.

I do this through Symptom tracking emails, Biofeedback and Neurofeedback.
Affectionately known as The Angry Boy Whisperer. I enjoy spending half of my time helping families in conflict. Often parents have tried everything and things have gotten bad despite their best efforts. I help parents change the course of the family back to their original family vision, and I help children learn how to be respectful, responsible, and fun to be around. The other half of my time, I enjoy helping guys who have a hard time with depression, anxiety, various types of addiction (pornography/substances), and difficulties in relationships. I help men, of all ages, become men of character and honor. I help people de-stress.

I use lifestyle counseling, emotion releasing process, biofeedback techniques, herbal medicine, homeopathic medicine, supplementation, and nutritional support as needed to help you heal from the inside out & develop self-nurturing habits that will serve you in the long-term.
Are you looking for a holistic approach to your mental health? Are you struggling and looking for support to not only address your symptoms but actually rise stronger through the process? I hear you, life can get overwhelming with stressors in our school, work, personal life and the state of the world. And sometimes our mental health is affected without any particular reason. How can we create strength from within regardless of what is going on around us? There is a time and place for medication and talk therapy, and there are also other modalities than can offer deep and long-lasting support.

I'm a naturopathic doctor and I see and treat people, not diseases. After working in family medicine for years, I have developed a program that utilizes the "gut-brain immune-mind engine" to target and restore tissue integrity and range of motion of the mind and body as a whole. I create individualized treatment plans emphasizing 3 prongs. 1: counseling, diet/nutrition/botanical medicine 2: biofeedback 3: body work including: neuro-myofascial technique, craniosacral therapy and visceral manipulation. If indicated, I draw in elements using energy healing modalities, yoga, guided meditation and contemplative art.

ONLINE SESSIONS AVAILABLE FOR ANYONE LIVING IN WASHINGTON STATE. You're overwhelmed by your stress & anxiety, and frankly by emotions in general. People may tell you that you are too sensitive, and you believe them. You hate that you feel so much all of the time. To protect yourself you work hard to "be normal." You try to keep your emotions in check by numbing, or over-doing, or holding yourself back, or isolating. What you don't know, yet, is your sensitivity is your unique gift. Sensitivity is a trait that is lacking in our world right now, which is why learning to embrace both sides of your sensitivity is so important.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist trained to provide psychological assessment and therapy for individuals struggling with chemical dependency, co-occurring disorders, mood disorders, neurocognitive impairment, learning disabilities, eating disorders, trauma, and adjustment disorders. I utilize empirically-supported testing and clinical interviewing techniques to provide thorough psychological assessments and differential diagnoses. My treatment approach is grounded in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy. I use evidence-based mindfulness exercises, cognitive-behavior therapy, and biofeedback training to help clients gain increasing awareness of their vulnerabilities and strengths. Clients change by learning to monitor and redirect dysfunctional thoughts before they manifest into undesirable behavior.

I work collaboratively with my clients to support them in reaching their specific goals in life. Every person is unique and will experience an individualized approach that is best suited to their needs and preferences. By treating each person as a unique individual I respect the person's autonomy and am able to support the person's own capacities for change and healing. I am also pragmatic in my approach which means I use what works. I am flexible in how I approach treatment. This flexibility extends to how I provide counseling as well. I am available evenings, in person as well as by telehealth.

I believe therapy should be a collaborative journey that you choose to embark on with your chosen therapist who’s role will serve as a navigator and guiding light, not as the helm at the wheel. When you enter into this commitment toward wellness we will use various methods and modalities that will be specific to your needs and tolerance. I will assess and evaluate your history and symptoms and decide along with you what next steps are necessary to get you through a treatment program that will not only increase your quality of life but also teach you valuable lessons that you can use for the remainder of your life.

I greatly enjoy working with young and/or emerging adults, working professionals, differently-abled individuals, and any or all intersections of the above. While I specialize in working with the above populations, you do not need to be a member of any of those identities to seek counseling from me. I love working with clients to introduce ways of understanding their problems from a biological standpoint, and to discover effective methods of coping with challenges. When we understand how you experience the perception of a problem in the moment, we can work together to meet your desired outcomes.

Whether you’re recognizing that your relationship with food or your body aren’t working for you or you’re totally ready to divest from diet culture, I’m here to support you. I understand how food and movement choices meant to put you on the path you’re wanting for yourself can get out of hand and seem to knock you off your path completely. If your relationship with food, movement or your body are causing anxiety, depression, or overtaking things that matter to you, know that you don’t have to walk that path alone. I will support you to feel empowered to fully step into who you are - wherever you currently are on that journey.

How can I find a therapist in Washington?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
