*OREGON RESIDENTS ONLY AT THIS TIME!* Underneath whatever label is put on the "disorder de jour", my clients have one thing in common: they are all in pain. They are all living with uncomfortable emotions they would rather not have. Sometimes its depression taking their joy,
anxiety
keeping them up at night... sometimes its marital issues, struggling with the loneliness of identity concerns or preparing for or recovering from major life transitions. I can help guide you through your pain by helping you learn ways to manage it while growing toward YOUR idea of your "best" self.

I use a blend of somatic (body-centered) treatment and evidence-based practices like cognitive behavior therapy to help support clients of all ages experiencing
anxiety
, depression, limiting thoughts, stuck behavioral patterns, and trauma.
Contrary to what movies show you about therapy, I won’t give you unwanted advice or simply nod solemnly the whole session. I bring curiosity, compassion, humor, free expression, and movement to join with my clients and help them explore what healing means to them. I hope to empower clients to access their natural abilities and to gently disrupt the unhealthy patterns we humans often get stuck in using more than traditional “talk therapy” approach. My goal is to facilitate somatic healing, so your whole body begins to feel better as you gain new awareness and get “unstuck” from the patterns you’re ready to release.

Is
anxiety
, overwhelm & past trauma making you feel like the walls are caving in? You’ve done everything “right” in life, only to realize that hasn’t made life any easier. Maybe you are one of those high achievers that succeeds at everything, or a people-pleaser terrified of confrontation. Either way – you feel out of control & ashamed, because - why can’t you figure this mental health stuff out? On top of all this, you are at a time of great transition, change & growth. Learning how to be an adult in a scary & unpredictable world can feel very lonely & sometimes crushing. Especially a world that seems like it’s going off the rails.

Feeling exhausted from the chatter in your mind? Reworking that thing you said last night, "what if..." Worrying about what will happen tomorrow or next year? Sleep can restless or evasive when
anxiety
is high. Would your friends and family be shocked by the comments, self -recrimination, and judgments floating around in your head? It can be exhausting keeping up the pretense of having it all-together. You probably mostly do have it together: great job, friends, a loving partner. But you wonder why it's not more more enjoyable? Or maybe two or three areas of your life and fantastic but that missing piece is leaves you longing.

anxiety
, stress, fear,
phobia
, and PTSD. My ideal clients are women, who are motivated, intuitive and intelligent, ready to evolve beyond the past, and the

fears
that keep them suffering. I treat the whole human system including the spirit, energy, intuition, psyche, emotion, body and subconscious mind. “To heal, together we must embrace the formerly unbearable: reality and our feelings about it” (Jon Frederickson). When faced with unbearable pain, every person develops ways to deal with that pain. These ways of dealing (or adaptations) were necessary at the time. However, these same adaptations often become automatic and habitual, and thus get carried into adulthood where they now cause more pain. I work with people who find themselves in pain, which can present as
anxiety
, depression, harsh self-criticism, attachment-related trauma or (often) a combination of all of the above.

I specialize in supporting adults experiencing trauma, stress and
anxiety
, and am intimately aware of the particular challenges facing Asian Americans, racialized groups, immigrants, and children of immigrants and refugees.
You’re feeling stuck, out of touch with yourself, unfulfilled, and you’re looking for relief and real change. It may appear like you have it all together, but on the inside you feel doubtful, burdened and stressed. Maybe you’re caught between different cultures, struggling with your identity and finding your place in the world. You might be carrying the trauma of your past or family history, and seeing the impacts in your work, relationships, sleep, energy levels, feelings of isolation and sense of self-worth. Even in your free time, you may find it difficult to truly relax and rest, your sense of pleasure and purpose depleted.

Sound familiar? It's my job to help you become more aware of habit thinking that leads to beliefs that cause stress,
anxiety
, depression and relationship breakdown.
Our minds go all day without an "off" switch. We're always thinking, thinking, thinking, whether or not we notice. Our thoughts - pleasant and unpleasant - give rise to our feelings. Unfortunatley, it's the unhappy ones that tend to linger and cause pain and suffering, like depression, anger and
anxiety
. We're driven by an instinctual survival system to stay alive, and our brains use thinking to make sure we're prepared for the worst. "I'm not safe." "Maybe they don't like me." "Something's wrong with me." "I'm a fraud." Unexamined, worst-case scenario thinking causes dis-ease. We're stressed, tense, worried and exhausted.

I am honored to work with people facing challenges in chronic illness (ALS, early on-set Dementias, MS, Parkinson's, TBI, Stroke, Cancer), end of life, caregiver burnout, finding meaning, depression/
anxiety
, non-dominant gender, romantic orientations, trauma, toxic masculinity and Sex-Positivity.
Morning/afternoon Availability. Mindfulness, compassion focused and positive psychology are at the core of my practice. Resistance to the very normal experience of suffering, as if something has gone terribly wrong, is natural. We become disconnected from the fullness of our experience and ourselves; the mind, body and our relationships. We practice inclining toward your experience and yourself in these areas with curiosity, cultivating tenderness, interconnectedness, and wise attention. Within all of us these precious core values have a capacity to hold space and a sense of wholeness that runs deeper than our problems.

I specialize in working with clients that try to manage life's pain with substances and other addictions. Many of my clients want to simply change their using habits and I work to support them weekly in understanding their intentions, feelings and motivations as they make healthy changes to their relationship with alcohol or other drugs. As we well know, many clients suffering from substance use disorders have a myriad of other issues that drive these compulsive coping mechanisms; I am experienced in many co-occuring issues such as depression,
anxiety
, trauma or grief. Supervisor: T. Christopher Portman PhD.

I have worked with trauma clients as well as clients with issues with
anxiety
, depression, PTSD.
I am a Latinx from Texas. I enjoy working with people of all races, ethnicities and cultures, and I am passionate in advocating for social justice issues. I believe that when transgressions occur and cause trauma, one should have a place to find safety, allyship and advocacy. I myself have Dyslexia and HSP (Highly Sensitive Personality), which have presented challenges in my life, but I have grown from them and learned to use them as the gifts that they are. For example, being highly sensitive enables me to be an excellent empathetic listener, and my dyslexia sometimes allows me to see possibilities for growth that others might not.

My approach is holistic in nature, applying mind, body and spirit. For over seven years, I have worked with adults in a variety of settings. I have had the privilege of coming alongside individuals who are going through intense and often life-changing situations. All of these relationships are personal to me and through these experiences I have come to learn the devastating effects painful life events has on lives. I know therapy can feel scary and vulnerable. Just the thought of it can feel overwhelming and exhausting. And yes, it can even feel risky. It takes courage to confront
fears
and ask for help.

How can I find a therapist in Washington?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
