Hello, my name is Walter Barron, Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have been in the Mental Health field for over 50 years, as an administrator, and more recently as a therapist for 15 years. Thank you for reaching out to me. I am comfortable working with anxiety and mood disorders, seriously mental ill disorders, couples therapy, grief issues, aging issues, and developmental changes.
In individual therapy and couples therapy, I use a cognitive based therapy approach, with an under pending being a systems model. I also teach mindfulness, anger management, and sometimes use exposure therapy. I am most comfortable with family therapy using the strategic and systems approach.
I am a good listener, asking open ended questions, but also being direct when specifics are needed. I pride myself in being non-judgmental, empathetic, and respectful. Most importantly is establishing an introductory relationship in the beginning of an assessment and if the client is comfortable in providing goals, that is very acceptable.
