Anxiety Therapists in Yacolt, WA
A lot of the people I work with feel overwhelmed, anxious, or burned out from years of masking or pushing themselves to meet expectations that don’t match how they actually function.
I’m naturally a very “why”-oriented person. I’ve always been drawn to understanding how things work, especially the things that don’t seem to make sense on the surface. That curiosity shows up in therapy as a collaborative, exploratory process where we look at patterns, question assumptions, and figure out what actually holds true for you.

Specializing in trauma, attachment, anxiety, relationship issues, religious deconstruction, and life transitions, I help clients move beyond survival mode and reconnect with themselves.
While insight is helpful, it’s only part of the work. Your nervous system responds before you consciously think, and your body holds memory... so we work with both. I integrate somatic and depth-oriented approaches to help bring unconscious patterns into awareness, so you can address what’s at the root and move through life with more clarity and ease.

I live in the Seattle area with my husband and dog. If I'm not in a session, I'm probably reading or crocheting. I bring my personality into my practice and meet you where you are, whether that's with playful humor, crying with you, or providing other perspectives when you're feeling stuck.

Depression, Anxiety, Substance Abuse and Early Childhood Traumas interfere with everyday functioning and cause us to make decisions that do not serve us well.
Therapy with me is like having coffee with a friend. Understanding the patterns of our behaviors, emotions and thoughts takes some time. It doesn't have to take forever though. I help examine the client's path to where they have gotten to, help create new ways of coping and help build a new path that is more in line with the client's goals.

I specialize in anxiety, ADHD, stress management, and self-esteem issues.
My approach is strength- and relational-based. I believe that everyone is capable of growth and healing, and I value bearing witness to the moment people realize they had it within themselves all along. This is not to say the journey will be easy and obstacle-free, as healing is never linear, but clients will never walk alone.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
