Hello friend. I believe healing begins when we feel truly seen, understood, and supported. We carry stories, experiences, and wounds that shape how we see ourselves and move through the world. Sometimes those experiences show up as anxiety, perfectionism, overwhelm, grief, or feeling disconnected from ourselves and the people we care about. As a therapist, my goal is to create a space where you don't have to carry those burdens alone. Together, we'll explore your experiences with compassion and curiosity, honoring the ways your mind and body have worked to protect you while discovering new ways to move toward healing and connection.

Do you often feel different from others or feel like you might not always fit in with your peer groups? Or, maybe you are looking for someone that can be supportive while you navigate something difficult from your past or present. At some point in our lives, we may experience depression, anxiety, or something we perceived as traumatic that follows us. I find it important to empower those I’m working with to recognize their own self-worth and inner strength in order to find safety, comfort and self acceptance while we navigate those difficult situations.

My work has particular focus on women's issues, LGBTQIA+ affirming care, and culturally sensitive support for BIPOC clients.
Do intrusive memories pull you back into what happened? Does your body brace itself in situations other people seem to handle easily? Trauma changes how we move through the world, sometimes years after the events themselves. Many people live with shame, depression, anger, or anxiety that feels out of control for a long time before reaching out for help. I work with adults across Oregon, Washington, and Montana making sense of what happened and what to do with it.

If you’re feeling disconnected from your body or stuck in troubling patterns with food, you’re not alone — and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. Many clients come to me feeling exhausted by the pressure to "fix" themselves. Together, we’ll gently explore where those messages came from and how they’ve shaped your relationship with your body, your emotions, and your sense of self. My work is grounded in the belief that your body isn’t the problem — and that healing happens when you feel safe, seen, and supported in relationship.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
