Being in a relationship is complicated and healing can be deeply personal.  I aim to help couples, families and individuals communicate feelings with greater clarity so that they can deepen connection to themselves and others.  I provide therapy primarily for people seeking liberation, with a strong anti-racist, anti-capitalist perspective.  With 20+ years of experience, I employ a psychodynamic relational therapy model.

I work with individuals, couples, and families. Counseling is an art form.... the art of listening, the ability to create visual understanding of deeply embedded meaning regarded as truth vs. constructions. Healing begins when a client feels safe enough to deconstruct and replace maladaptive beliefs and behaviors. Integrating new perspectives and a fresh understanding of old stories is a means to sustainable change - a gift of self acceptance. As a therapeutic guide, I believe that each of us is the best source of our own healing....I am there to facilitate what is already true and wise in each client.

As humans, we are hardwired for connection, love and a felt sense of belonging. I can help you to create deeper connections in relationships that matter, with partners, friends, family, and most importantly, with yourself. Together we can create a space, for you to design what you want for your life. I offer compassionate guidance assisting individuals and couples, who have arrived at some sort of impasse in their lives. It takes courage to begin to examine one's life and relationships. Mary Oliver wrote in The Journey, "One day you finally knew what you had to do...and began."

Psychological patterns that constrict or inhibit us also live inside our bodies, in the ways we breathe, hold tension, or respond to stress. Working therapeutically with both the body and mind offers a profound potential for changing deeply held ways of thinking, feeling, and being in the world. Therapy with me is not just talk, but truly holistic in exploring the deeper layers of experience through attention to the body, sensation, impulse, imagery, and emotion. This process helps to get you out of your head and into your body, and generates lasting changes in how you feel and experience yourself.

Connecting to mind, body, and spirit, we work systemically depending on what shows up in the room, a session may include deep listening and reflection, somatic awareness and movement, and exploration of family history, socialization, and cultural influences.
The client-therapist connection is one of trust and empathy and is central to the healing and growing process, forming the container for change. Together we create a collaborative therapeutic relationship where each client has the opportunity to explore their true self, reflect on possibilities, and gain insight that leads to action. Our goal together is to build more authentic connections, with yourself and others, which will allow deeper insight into your experience and define the action needed to move forward.

My speicialties involve artistic expression, nature based healing work, parts work and somatic based practices.
Hi everyone! I am excited to start my internship journey with you! As a highly sensitive, neurodiverse person, traditional schooling and many of the societal norms have not often come easily for me. Because of this, I find alternative therapies that incorporate creative approaches to be incredibly meaningful. I believe humans are essentially creative beings, and these types of practices can be deeply fulfilling for so many of us.

I have supplemental experience in TF-CBT, somatic therapy, IFS, and existentialism.
Healing can be a beautiful process, both physically and mentally. It can bring relief from pain, restore functionality, and promote a sense of well-being. It can also offer an opportunity for personal growth and self-discovery. I specialize in a holistic approach to anxiety, trauma, and behavior modification through mind and body. The philosophy of trauma-informed counseling is based on the understanding that individuals who have experienced trauma require specialized care and support. I acknowledge the impact of trauma on my clients' lives and work collaboratively with them to identify and address their individual needs and goals.

I believe good therapy is a bit like alchemy. As in alchemy we work to turn lead into gold: the heaviness of a weary psyche into the brightness of the luminescent soul. And like alchemy, even the most thorough rational or scientific understanding of the process is insufficient to account for psychological metamorphosis. I work with people who would like to use their capacity for memory and imagination as a force for change in themselves and their circumstances and I help people manifest their vision within the context of everyday life.

Hypnosis creates a natural bridge between mind and body, and it's a proven method for relieving pain, improving sleep, releasing anxiety, and replacing self-sabotage with new choices. Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention creating a heightened openness and awareness. This state allows the mind to gently access deep creative resources, and in clinical hypnosis, we can then apply these resources to your goals for change.

I specialize in the intersections of trauma and transgender experience, using a heavily somatic framework to support people in connecting with their emotions, their bodies, and their selves.
You are not too much. Nor is what you have been through too much. If you struggle with gender or sexual identity, sexual or domestic violence, feelings of isolation or rejection, or other forms of lasting trauma, I can help. Please know that I believe you to be, at this moment, exactly who you needed to be in order to survive. I also believe that things can get better.

My approach is somatic-relational and evidence-based.
Therapy is a great place to gain perspective on what you can change. Also, to widen the horizon from managing pain to living more fully like yourself and to thriving. Because, as Thich Nhat Hanh said, "suffering is not enough".

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
