We are a group of dynamic therapists, in multiple Washington state locations. Our goal was to create a place for you to settle in and tell your story. Everybody has one, and we want to hear yours. Counseling is a process that encourages you to examine your choices, your thoughts, your dreams, your barriers and your pain in an effort to create the positive change you are seeking in your life. We believe that successful counseling is a collaborative experience between you and your therapist; that finding the right fit is vital to that success.

***LIMITED AVAILABILITY ON TUESDAY EVENING*** I believe one of the greatest attributes of the therapeutic relationship is the ability to be open and honest with your thoughts, feelings, and relationship issues. Therapy is a place where you don't have to worry about being judged or having your statements negatively impact your world. A place where you can feel heard and understood, and receive objective feedback from someone whose sole purpose is to help you to make your life better.

(1)Who am I? People describe me as unflappable, empathic and balanced. I believe in the potential of those I see. I know people can and do manage and sometimes overcome debilitating mental health conditions. I rely on client collaboration and feedback in order to stretch a person beyond the distortions that render one paralyzed. Be ready to stretch and discover that you can. (2)What is my professional experience? I have a little over 20 years in the social service and mental health field. I have worked within school, hospital, prison, and community mental health agencies in California, Oregon and Washington.

I am passionate about counseling and believe it is a sacred privilege to be a part of anyone's healing journey. I believe in empowering people to find healing and strength to move forward in a way that fits wherever they may be in the process. Rather than trying to have all of the answers, I prefer to partner with clients in their own exploration and growth.

ONLINE SESSIONS AVAILABLE FOR ANYONE LIVING IN WASHINGTON STATE. You're overwhelmed by your stress & anxiety, and frankly by emotions in general. People may tell you that you are too sensitive, and you believe them. You hate that you feel so much all of the time. To protect yourself you work hard to "be normal." You try to keep your emotions in check by numbing, or over-doing, or holding yourself back, or isolating. What you don't know, yet, is your sensitivity is your unique gift. Sensitivity is a trait that is lacking in our world right now, which is why learning to embrace both sides of your sensitivity is so important.

I believe we are all born with good intentions and infinite possibilities but that sometimes, life can knock us off our path. Despite what tragic events occur during our lifetime, we are driven towards resiliency, however this can be where we get stuck: what we used to do, or are doing, doesn't work anymore - we need to find a different way. As a seasoned clinician and Certified EMDR therapist, I will provide you with a safe and empathetic environment for you to tell your story, I will actively participate in your treatment, teach you coping skills, and gently challenge you when needed.

This exploration can be difficult, which is why I hope having a support to guide you in this process will create a sense of safety and foster growth. Life is good but sometimes it leaves a mark. Often the actions we take to recover end up causing even more problems, and hopelessness and disappointment become overwhelming. I believe that sharing your burden can give you space to see what is getting in your way, clarity to know what you can change, and strength to perhaps approach your situation differently and more effectively. My goal is to help you find courage, hope, and determination to push through challenging times in order to live a life unencumbered by past mistakes or present doubts.

For many years I struggled with shame and doubt about who I was, often feeling lost and hopeless. I would exercise my feelings through control or passivity in relations with others. It wasn't until I received help from a counselor that I started my journey of healing that lead to my discovery of an authentic self who could practice healthy relationships, acceptance, love, and feel worthy from the inside out. At that point I chose to become a Counselor so as to assist others in their journeys of self discovery.

I have worked with individuals, couples, families, and groups. My current focus is primarily on people dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, attachment, life transitions, trauma, family and other interpersonal issues. I use a highly respectful approach in helping my clients address their issues and build effective coping and communication skills. This can include identifying and shifting limiting patterns (based on experiences of the past) that have continued to influence their present-day emotions, attitudes, interactions, expectations, and decisions. I work with each individual in a way that empowers them to stay in charge of their own therapeutic process.

How can I find a therapist in Vancouver?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
