Sometimes in life we may feel “stuck” and unsure how to move, overwhelmed, or alone. We may experience depression or anxiety, go through an experience that leaves us shaken, or hit the end of our rope and burnout. For some of us, we reach a place in life where we lose touch with ourselves or perhaps even come to a crossroads where we have a drastic shift in our understanding of the world and question all that we have known. It is in these times where we may be looking for extra support and need a calm, compassionate space to be seen…

Everyone needs a person, a place where they can talk. Freely talk. And share the things that make us feel small, the things we do that we don't understand, our worries and secret hurts that have been done to us or that we have done to others. The thing is - talking doesn't always feel good. And sometimes, the things we want to talk about are downright painful. But just because it hurts - doesn't mean we shouldn't talk about it. That's why I'm here. I want to help you have a good talk... about hard things.

I enjoy being able to help others. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you are curious or have any questions. Some of the primary modalities I draw from are cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, emotionally focused therapy, mindful self-compassion, and positive psychology.
You don’t need the right words. Longing for relief is enough. It might look like you have it together on the outside. If it feels like you’re falling apart inside, wanting to feel better is enough. You don’t need to walk this journey alone. I’m here to support you in feeling better and to honor the parts of you that want to be heard. I help people who are struggling with anxiety, depression, complex trauma (related to chaotic or emotionally abusive childhoods, religious trauma), stress, and grief. Your whole self is welcome, including the messy, uncertain, complicated, and tender bits.

I see my role as helping you figure out what you want from life and helping you get there. Being a human is so stressful and weird, with or without other factors like mental health issues. I especially enjoy working with teens and folks who have experienced emotional abuse/neglect, but I am qualified and happy to work with folks going through many other types of issues.
For teens: If your parent/guardian is "making" you come, we can work with that. Remember, you're the one who consents to therapy, so you choose what we work on.

Who is emotionally focused therapy for?
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.
Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?
People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.
What happens in emotionally focused therapy?
Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.
What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?
EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
