I enjoy working with people with anger issues so I can help them work through their unspoken feelings in a safe, nurturing environment and to learn to express themselves from the heart.
I have been practicing in Oregon since 1985. I am very open, honest and interactive. I enjoy what I do and to see clients being empowered to make a difference for themselves in their lives, is my reward. I am bilingual and speak Farsi. I have worked with individuals, couples, families and teenagers of all cultures. Being culturally different has given me a more of a perspective to allow more understanding and compassion in helping others.

Anxiety, depression, grief, anger management and general worry are addressed with traditional talk therapy in addition to, when the client is interested, structured movements that complement the talk therapy work.
People come to me usually for one of two reasons: (1) things are going well but they want to grow and evolve, (2) things are hard because of a past traumatic experience or a current situation, and healing and change is needed. Symptoms often include anxiety, depression, anger , grief and relationship issues. I work from a depth psychological perspective which means that I address the cause of symptoms as much as the symptoms themselves.

I offer a unique blend of faith-based spiritual direction along with competent and experienced mental health counseling and effective treatment planning. A majority of my clients are seeking an experienced mental health therapist/relationship counselor in whom they place confidence that their most deeply-held spiritual values are understood and shared. I primarily treat Christian individuals, couples and families that are facing difficulties with anger and abuse, blended-family, sexual addiction, unfaithfulness, marital discord, or depression and anxiety, along with a variety of spiritual concerns.

Depression, anxiety, problem anger , grief, trauma (PTSD), addiction, and marital conflict to name a few.
My approach to therapy is based on making an empathetic connection, promoting awareness and relational growth. I have a holistic perspective, believing we are our own best resource for growth and healing. I am skilled at providing an open and compassionate space in which to connect with what is most important to you. For therapy to be meaningful and therefore useful, I have found techniques less important. Instead, I emphasize skillful use of the therapy relationship to work deeply with a wide range of issues, challenges and presentations - honoring diversity in my work with people, ideas and identities.

I have facilitated domestic violence groups and anger management classes for men and women for over 15 years.
I am currently closed to new clients. Please see abwcs.com as several of my colleagues have openings. I provide telehealth and in-person counseling services. I can provide counseling to any Washington or Idaho State residents. Since 1994, I've helped clients work through trauma, learn about codependency and healthy boundaries, address anxiety, navigate challenging transitions, and improve communication in their relationships. Other clinicians would be better suited to help address chronic depression. I support and challenge clients to take needed action in order to improve the quality of their lives and relationships.

I specialize in treating chronic stress, anxiety, anger , and trauma.
I currently take Aetna and United Healthcare plans. You appreciate education and are not looking for a faith-based place to heal. You also need a place where you are comfortable swearing and discussing life events. You struggle speaking your mind at times and may be your worst critic. Chronic stress, constant worry, or past trauma may also be contributing. Your relationships, emotional management, physical health, or sense of progress is being affected. You may recognize you are no longer being your best self and are searching for a better mindset. If you consider yourself neurodivergent, we may also be a good fit.

The past 20 years working with clients in mental health I have experienced positive results using Cognitive Behavioral, Motivational, Brief, and Narrative therapy's treating depression, anxiety, grief, anger , co-dependency, relational issues and addictions.
For many years I struggled with shame and doubt about who I was, often feeling lost and hopeless. I would exercise my feelings through control or passivity in relations with others. It wasn't until I received help from a counselor that I started my journey of healing that lead to my discovery of an authentic self who could practice healthy relationships, acceptance, love, and feel worthy from the inside out. At that point I chose to become a Counselor so as to assist others in their journeys of self discovery.

Emotional pain and struggle are a normal part of life but it's easy to get stuck. Eventually, we find ourselves far from what we find most valuable and meaningful in life.  Whether it's depression, grief, anger , trauma, stress, anxiety, or difficulty adjusting to life circumstances, together we will practice skills to be more present in life, more open and better equipped to handle our pain, and more able to move towards what matters. Please note: I offer Telehealth appointments only. I do not offer in person appointments at this time.

I work with people in exploring childhood messages, attachment ruptures and current life circumstances as well as anxiety and anger .
All clients are ideal clients. We are not individuals who are broken that need to be fixed, we are humans having a human experience and we are constantly in a state of change and transitions that have sometimes served us and sometimes not. Clients who seem to work well with me are ones that are motivated to make changes and comfortable with awareness of self. I work from a developmental trauma, attachment theory and shame basis of therapy. I offer emotionally focused therapy towards childhood trauma. I am currently only offering telehealth.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
