I strive to provide an open and inclusive space for folks to explore who they are and any challenges within their world. This exploration can be difficult, which is why I hope having a support to guide you in this process will create a sense of safety and foster growth. Together we can work on things like coping skills, exploring trauma, interpersonal conflict, radical self- acceptance and more.

I use modalities such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), ACT ( Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Mindfulness strategies, Psychodynamic Therapy, Relational Therapy, Solution Focused, Person Centered and more.
Life can give us painful challenges. Sometimes we may need to ask for help. We can feel stuck and confused in our thoughts and feelings, and know we're not living the life we really want. We may have problems with relationships, divorce, loss, health, aging, loneliness, social or work issues. I aim to form a warm, interactive connection that is safe and supportive with a focus more on the present than the past. I support you in having more awareness and understanding to solve problems, learn to cope, and to discover the person you want to be. The primary goal is for lasting change that enriches and gives meaning to your life.

I tend to be relational and interactive in therapy, incorporating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Therapy is a collaborative process where I try to help clients find what isn't working in their lives and help them "try on" different ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving. Therapy can at times be a "trial and error" where I provide coping skills for my clients and see if what I provided is useful. Although I make it a point to use evidence-based practices, I also take into consideration the context of my client's life and the current world climate when exploring issues and what would be most effective in their path for change.

Their intense emotions often lead them to act without thinking, lashing out at those they care about the most.
I guide big-feeling high achievers to move through the fear of failure without the emotional overwhelm. Despite being eager about their growth, empathetic, and having a dry (alright, dark) sense of humor, when my clients come to me, they're stuck. While therapy helped to a certain extent, they’ve hit a plateau. The insights they gained in therapy aren’t solving their real-life problems. They aren’t the confident person they want to be. Their relationships are in a fragile state. They’re missing out on professional opportunities.

I also lean towards mindfulness based practices, particularly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
It is my belief that in spite of all life’s pains and challenges that it is entirely possible to find contentedness and even joy in our experience. I aim to learn about my client’s past, their values, life desires, and the current struggles that get in the way of daily life. It is through this exchange that we build a therapeutic relationship and set the stage for our work together.

My stance is based in attachment theory, mindfulness, ACT , and neuroscience.
INDIVIDUALS: Sometimes, our emotions are like a network of painful roots: buried, somehow connected, popping up everywhere. If we’ve avoided these emotions, it can be overwhelming to begin exploring them. In my work, I gently guide your journey inward - towards your authentic self - so that we can tend to this pain with care. || RELATIONSHIPS: There are points when our relationships can feel disconnected or intense. Once we establish such patterns, it can feel like ruts in a dirt road that pull us in every time. Together, we will work to create new paths of connection that feel natural and consistent.

I utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy in combination with EMDR to help you achieve the healing you are looking for.
The pleasures in life are unfortunately coupled with pains and struggles that each person faces. However, each person’s struggles are unique and deserve to be attended to with care and compassion. Throughout therapy there may be painful moments and uncomfortable challenges and it is my goal to be a support, offer skills and interventions, and encourage continued growth. I utilize EMDR and other modalities to help manage and reduce symptoms that are experienced and help you on your path to healing.

My main theoretical approach is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy which is based in mindfulness and acceptance .
Emotional pain and struggle are a normal part of life but it's easy to get stuck. Eventually, we find ourselves far from what we find most valuable and meaningful in life.  Whether it's depression, grief, anger, trauma, stress, anxiety, or difficulty adjusting to life circumstances, together we will practice skills to be more present in life, more open and better equipped to handle our pain, and more able to move towards what matters. Please note: I offer Telehealth appointments only. I do not offer in person appointments at this time.

I bring a trauma informed approach with curiosity, space and evidenced based practices including psychoeducation, ACT , EMDR and IFS.
Sometimes we find ourselves feeling stuck in unhelpful patterns in our mind, body, behavior or relationships. Other times we experience significant loss or an unexpected change in life. We can start to feel distant from ourselves, values and passions that get lost along the way. This can leave us feeling anxious, uninspired, disconnected, depressed or stuck. If you made the decision to reach out, you may have tried to make changes or cope on your own, but are struggling to achieve the peace or growth you seek. Therapy offers the comfort of navigating these challenges within the context of a safe and trusting relationship.

I'm trained in Emotion Focused Therapy, Imago Relational Therapy, ACT , DBT, Trauma and Attachment.
We are living in complex times with many changes and turmoil. If you're feeling stressed, anxious, sad; you are not alone! I believe that we all have within us a capacity to heal. One avenue for growth and change is through the relationship between client and therapist. I use therapeutic strategies that help clients become aware of their thoughts, feelings and behaviors and how they contribute to disconnection or distress. My focus is to facilitate the desired changes identified by each client and to work at his/her pace towards their goals. It is always a privilege to walk with clients through this sacred journey.

While no approaches are universal, I strongly advocate for the use of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction in tandem to manage stress.
When life feels presents us with stress, whether it be from anxiety, depression, or trauma, it is not uncommon to feel overwhelmed and a sense that our lives have become unmanageable. My greatest satisfaction comes with assisting individuals in recognizing their power to grow and thrive. I assist my clients, who include adolescents and adults, in finding ways to change their relationship to thoughts and emotions and develop a stronger sense of self, establishing core values, and creating an action plan linked to goals based on those values.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

Is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy evidence-based?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is one of many approaches within the field of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT is an evidence-based treatment framework that has been shown to be effective in treating many mental health conditions including depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and OCD.

What is the difference between Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?

Despite being part of the CBT family of therapies, ACT differs from other approaches within this field in several important ways: First, it emphasizes acceptance over change; second, it focuses on present moment experiences rather than past experiences or future events; third it focuses on what clients can do rather than what they cannot do; and fourth it emphasizes values rather than symptoms as targets for change.

What credentials will a certified Acceptance and Commitment Therapy have?

A certified Acceptance and Commitment therapist in Vancouver will have completed specialized training in this approach at a university accredited by The Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT).

How long does ACT typically take?

ACT is a relatively short-term therapy that focuses on helping you accept the things you can't change and commit to the things you can. It typically takes about eight weeks of weekly sessions with a therapist to complete the entire process. You may need to see your therapist weekly or biweekly, depending on the circumstances surrounding your situation.
