I am excited to have recently moved my practice from Portland to Vancouver, WA and am happy to provide care to clients who live in Washington,Oregon and California. I am able to teach people skills that will transform their relationships. I work with couples and families who really want to make changes in the way they relate to one another, helping them to understand that conflict is normal and natural. I also enjoy helping people who have been traumatized. My seven years at the VA Outpatient Clinic has well prepared me to work with those who have been traumatized, are depressed or are grieving.

I primarily work with people who are working to overcome sex addictions, are struggling with self-worth, or are generally overwhelmed with stress and difficult emotions. I also enjoy working with people who want to integrate their faith into their therapeutic work. I strive to provide a non-judgmental, down-to-earth environment in which to address the issues that may feel embarrassing or shameful to broach, and earnestly want to help you reach your goals, and cheer for and encourage you every step of the way, while teaching tips and tricks that might make the process smoother and easier for you. I'd love to meet you!

My Christ centered practice focuses on relationship counseling and individual counseling for grief, trauma, anxiety, and depression. As a licensed Christian counselor I blend evidence-based therapy with biblical truth to help clients find both emotional healing and spiritual renewal. Many in our community have discovered lasting change through Christian counseling that honors both the science of the mind and the hope found in Jesus Christ, based in Scripture. My expertise is suicide loss, but I enjoy working with all clients, regardless of their struggle who are suffering and seeking peace and joy.

It is sometimes hard to find our place as individuals or as husbands and fathers in the world. Are you struggling with your role as a committed, loving husband? Your marriage lacks intimacy, and it seems like every discussion ends in conflict and hurt. Or your only role model was absent and none of those around you seem to have the same struggles. As a parent, you find yourself being harsh or shaming your children and then regretting it but unable to find a better way? Maybe you feel isolated and alone, easing the pain by acting out in harmful ways.

Assisting individuals, couples, parents and families with the challenges of life is a privilege and a passion! Some of these challenges come from difficult and painful relationships we have with others but can even come in the relationship we have with ourselves! This can cause a loss of connection and an increase in anxiety, anger and depression. However, learning to manage and improve relationships can bring about significant satisfaction, confidence and joy. We are also often faced with the anxiety and fear of transitions and unexpected life changes. I am here to help you navigate these challenges!

Do you feel stuck in old patterns you can’t quite explain? Maybe you’ve carried wounds from your past that keep disrupting your relationships, your confidence, or your sense of meaning. Or maybe you’ve been holding everything together for so long that something in you is finally saying, “I can’t keep doing it this way.” You’re not alone. I help adults and young adults navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, identity struggles, spiritual beliefs, and the deep fatigue that comes from carrying more than your share. My approach is warm, curious, and grounded in the belief that people grow when they feel truly seen.

I work with adults who look capable on the outside but feel emotionally numb, ashamed, or disconnected in their relationships. Many have learned to live in their heads because their emotional lives never felt safe to inhabit. A significant portion of my practice is devoted to men, though I welcome people of all genders who are drawn to depth-oriented, trauma-informed therapy. I also support psychedelic integration for those preparing for or making meaning from past experiences.

How are you doing? (No, really.) Maybe there hasn’t been a lot of space for you to know what you’re feeling or maybe to feel it all is too overwhelming. Perhaps you’ve had a recent life transition that’s left you scrambled, or maybe things have been feeling stuck for a while. It might be that you’ve been working tirelessly to be a “better version” of yourself and when you determine you’ve fallen short, you find yourself with an inner critic that blames, criticizes, or belittles you. If this sounds familiar, let’s talk!

The importance of our relationships, with both ourselves and with others, cannot be overstated. In my work with couples, I've seen relationship patterns develop that can either support or undermine safe connection. When starting therapy, these couples often arrive feeling disconnected, unheard, or stuck in disconnection. It can feel like ruts in a dirt road that pull us in every time. Together, we can work to understand these patterns, explore what motivates them, and learn how to free yourselves from unhelpful cycles. With compassion and openness, you can create relationships with greater intimacy, support, and understanding.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Lincoln, Vancouver?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
