Do you find that anxiety , depression, poor self esteem or flashbacks to prior traumas sometimes get in the way of your leading your life with confidence, creativity, love and compassion? In therapy with me you will learn tools to find greater calm and connection. I don't judge people or put them in boxes but work with your core Self, helping you live from your core rather than from less integrated parts within you. Ultimately, in working with me, you may find living with greater calm and acceptance and with an intensity of purpose and direction in your life.

As humans we all face challenges and many of us face trauma that has an impact on us throughout our entire lives causing depression, anxiety , PTSD and other various mental health concerns. These concerns can be the things that hold us back from living our life fully or being able to create a life we believe is worth living. In my practice with clients I attempt to help people discover a way for themselves to find health, move forward and start thriving instead of surviving.

Welcome. I'm so glad you're here. I think if you're seeking therapy, you're likely looking for some sort of change, which requires hope. I believe hope is gritty and requires courage. Are you ready to let go go old habits and ways of thought that shackle you? Would you like to move through your stuck places, your anxiety and your depression? Many people believe they are stuck in anxiety and depression when what they are really dealing with is a spiritual crisis. Once we bring in a level of work that acknowledges the very real struggles that they are dealing with, people begin to heal in new ways.

Sometimes we find ourselves feeling a sense of groundlessness during major life transitions, events, grief, or loss. Sometimes this groundlessness is experienced as anxiety , loneliness, relational distress, poor sense of self-worth, or insecurity. While these experiences can cause immense distress, they can also provide an opportunity to explore and get to know ourselves in ways we have not yet imagined.

Anxiety , depression, grief, anger management and general worry are addressed with traditional talk therapy in addition to, when the client is interested, structured movements that complement the talk therapy work.
People come to me usually for one of two reasons: (1) things are going well but they want to grow and evolve, (2) things are hard because of a past traumatic experience or a current situation, and healing and change is needed. Symptoms often include anxiety , depression, anger, grief and relationship issues. I work from a depth psychological perspective which means that I address the cause of symptoms as much as the symptoms themselves.

In life, we learn to do what we have to in order to survive. Sometimes that means finding coping skills to escape trauma or pain that don't end up serving or nourishing the soul in the long run. I am passionate about helping individuals nourish their mind, body and spirit to overcome trauma, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, addictive behaviors, poor self-image and other mental health struggles, including those related to chronic pain and medical illness. I believe in helping my clients feel empowered to trust their instincts and create coping skills, self love, and a life they don't want to escape from.

ONLINE SESSIONS AVAILABLE FOR ANYONE LIVING IN WASHINGTON STATE. You're overwhelmed by your stress & anxiety , and frankly by emotions in general. People may tell you that you are too sensitive, and you believe them. You hate that you feel so much all of the time. To protect yourself you work hard to "be normal." You try to keep your emotions in check by numbing, or over-doing, or holding yourself back, or isolating. What you don't know, yet, is your sensitivity is your unique gift. Sensitivity is a trait that is lacking in our world right now, which is why learning to embrace both sides of your sensitivity is so important.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
