I am accepting new clients! Do you constantly feel like no one gets you? Or how you never seemed to fit in and were picked on because of how you look, act, and think? That loneliness feels crushing. You've probably felt ashamed of who you are. Maybe over the years, you've tried to be "normal" and realized your life feels empty and inauthentic. Or maybe you've resisted mainstream society, but it's left you socially isolated, depressed , anxious, perhaps even traumatized. You are not alone.

When forming this practice, I was reminded of being a child playing outside. Can you recall playing tag at recess? It seemed inevitable that at some point, someone would get so close to being tagged and yell, "I'm on T." What a fleeting gift of childhood - to just call 'time' when the pressure got too high. I have spent 8 years working with children, teens, and adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression , grief, social skills/relationship difficulties, ADHD, OCD, and more. If you feel that there is something blocking you from experiencing a life you can enjoy, therapy might be right for you.

I have extensive experience working with depression , anxiety, bereavement, trauma, relational difficulties, problems with school or work, and identity issues.
I view psychotherapy as a collaborative process in which we work together to make sense of the problems that have brought you in, and work towards mutually established goals. Psychotherapy involves verbalizing your thoughts and feelings, exploring relational and behavioral patterns, and learning how past experiences may impact you now. Through this process we strive to gain greater awareness of how both conscious and unconscious processes play out in your emotional, intellectual and relational life. Ultimately, therapy can help individuals come to better understand themselves and exercise greater choice in their lives.

Our beliefs, behavior patterns, and perceptions can prevent us from living a fulfilling and meaningful life. Noticing how we think and identifying life values can provide a compass for living and give us direction, away from anxiety and depression . We can be empowered by choices about where our mind would take us.

We will explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviors and your experience in the world, especially in your relationships, so that you can understand yourself better and begin to make the changes you desire. One of my strengths as a therapist of 30 years is that I help people get to the heart of the matter quickly so they can understand the source of their distress and begin to feel better and move forward.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
