I see clients both in person and online Mon-Wed 9am-5pm.
If you’re tired of recycling the same argument, walking on eggshells with each other or don’t know how to repair your relationship, I can help you get to the root of your disconnection. I help distressed, disconnected couples remember what it's like to be sexy best friends instead of roommates. Together, we will identify your entrenched ways of arguing so that both of you can break these patterns by learning how to clearly state how you’re feeling to your partner and in turn, listen deeply. I'll help you pay close attention to each other, so that you both feel a little more held each time we meet.

Thank you for checking out my profile! I specialize in supporting youth (ages 13 and up) and adults, especially individuals who have been marginalized and experience systemic stressors like homophobia, transphobia, racism, ethnocentrism, and ableism. I work well with individuals who have had exposure to mental health treatment in the past but have not reached their personal goals yet, as well as individuals who may be new to mental health care. I'd be happy to offer a brief consultation to answer any specific questions you may have.

Teenagers are some of my favorite people to work with. They're often funny, fiercely principled, and in the middle of discovering who they are — practicing autonomy, finding their voice, figuring out where their edges are. I have tremendous respect for all that they are navigating: the hormones, the social pressure, the academic load, the new desires for intimacy, and the decisions that feel enormous because they are. I'm a licensed clinical psychologist with 15+ years working with adolescents and adults. My approach is direct, warm, and deeply empathetic — I take my clients seriously, and my clients feel that.

I offer both Telehealth and in-person appointments at this time.
Hello and welcome! My name is Taren, I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor here in WA State. I enjoy working with trauma and unpacking the impact, anxiety, exploring family of origin dynamics, and relationship patterns/issues. I believe there are many different reasons to seek therapy, and that each of us have walked such unique and sometimes challenging paths to get to where we are today. I enjoy getting to know the intricacies of these paths and what has led an individual to where they are today, and from there beginning the work; collaboratively, towards where one would ideally like to be.

I offer therapy in person on Monday and Saturday and via telehealth on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.
Humans need connection and support to thrive. My goal is to be that support as you grow, develop, and heal in the direction you want. I am not the expert of your life, you are. I strive to honor and validate your experience, while we uncover how your experiences have affected you and whether you want to do anything about that.

I am receiving clients face to face, by phone, or on secure video platform.
I use an interdisciplinary approach, which means I use different styles of counseling to meet the different needs and personalities of clients. I always allow their feedback so they remain comfortable. I try and meet their perceptual needs, emotional needs, cognitive needs, situational needs, and respect their individual personalities. I have worked with all ages, sexual orientations, ethnic backgrounds (including the Middle and Far East), and social economic backgrounds.

Sessions available in person in Tacoma, WA or virtually by appointment.
My ideal client is someone who is ready to heal from the inside out. They may be carrying the weight of childhood wounds, unresolved trauma, anxiety, or self-destructive patterns like addiction. Often, they’ve tried traditional approaches and still feel disconnected from themselves, overwhelmed by emotions, or unsure how to move forward. Their goals are deep: to feel safe, to understand their patterns, to quiet the inner critic, and to reconnect with a sense of purpose and peace. Whether through inner child healing, past life regression, or subconscious reprogramming, they are seeking not just symptom relief, but true healing.

I offer a warm, collaborative approach grounded in person-centered therapy, CBT, and DBT.
I’m really glad you’re here. I see your power. Let’s use it. You might be someone who feels stressed, overwhelmed, or a little stuck, even when you're doing all you can, and believe me I’ve been there. Maybe you’re working on anxiety, low mood, identity questions, relationship stress, academic or work burnout, or a big life transition. You might find yourself needing a supportive, nonjudgmental space. If that sounds right, I’m really glad you’re here, and I’d love to meet you. Together the goal is to feel more grounded, confident, and connected while building tools to move through life. You're welcome exactly as you are.

I offer individual therapy in-person and online via video.
Are you feeling a little “off” lately? Down, anxious or unsure what comes next in life—especially after the last year or so? Perhaps relationships aren’t working out or problematic patterns you want to quit just keep popping up. Maybe you find yourself struggling with old wounds that need care and attention. Or it could be you just don’t feel like yourself and you’re not sure why.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
