My approach to counseling is friendly, open and gentle. Together we will explore and discover beliefs and emotions that are keeping you stuck, anxious, sad, angry or fearful. Awareness arising from this journey begins a natural internal re-modeling process that results in a sense of connection with your true Self and your own inner wisdom. Space emerges for automatic reactions to become choiceful responses. Overwhelming emotions become manageable and even sources of wisdom. Previously unknown options become apparent, allowing for more focus, clarity and effectiveness in all realms of your life: (physical, emotional mental and spiritual).

I enjoy working with people who are wanting to address barriers to their sexual health and are seeking to have fantastic sex lives. The relationships that I work best with have already done work to improve their skills, have a strong commitment to each other, and are willing show-up and do the difficult work of addressing outdated and harmful views of sexuality. I am happy to work with individuals, couples, and different and varying relationship designs and configurations.

It is quite common to experience difficulties throughout life. When these difficulties arise an individual may seek the assistance of a counselor or therapist in order to better understand and deal with the issues. Deciding to seek counseling is the first step in change and is often one of the hardest decisions to make. I work with clients who are trying to cope with anxiety, depression, early childhood trauma, sexual abuse, PTSD, and
family
integration problems. I am someone who is interested in listening to your concerns and in helping you develop a better understanding of these issues.

I would love to work with you and your
family
and appreciate the challenge that many people face when asking for help.
It can be a challenge to find a counselor that is not only a good fit, but has the knowledge to help with the concerns you are bringing to therapy. I work with both both children and adults in my practice and have spent the past 10 years specializing in treating anxiety, trauma/PTSD, and behavioral concerns (in children) using evidence-based treatments. Clients have described me as straight-forward as well as taking the time to understand their experience.

Resources I utilize include Somatics, Attachment Theory, Internal
Family
Systems, and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy.
Not currently accepting new clients. I serve individuals, couples, and families who are part of the LGBTQIA+ and poly/ethical non-monogamy communities. Living in a society that prioritizes profit over people and systematically privileges & oppresses based on identity takes a large toll. I believe therapy is a resource to help us navigate living in this world and be intentional about how we show up in it. My approach is to meet people where they are at and support them in exploring what tools, resources, and practices can best aid them in living into their authentic selves. I would be honored to be alongside you on your journey.

I'm accepting new clients! I work with people who want to break free from repeating unhelpful patterns while learning how to give themselves the care they really need. My clients are ready to examine the "hurts" that need to be healed in order to fully engage in their lives and relationships. They don’t just want skills, they want transformation. In order to get it they are willing to engage in session, practice vulnerability and explore the depth of the issues they face. I am particularly skilled in helping clients work toward body acceptance and my work is firmly rooted in Health at Every Size (HAES) principles.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
