I also have special expertise working with neurodevelopmental issues, such as Autism spectrum disorder and ADHD .
People often seek out the help of a psychologist, coach or consultant in order to improve in some way. Whether this means at an emotional/social/behavioral level or in a performance-related domain, I take the same basic approach: help you, the client, understand what it is you most need or want, and then work with you to get you there. My general mission as a professional is to help others - adults, teens and couples - grow and develop in increasingly gratifying and successful ways. My office is located in Spokane, but services are provided statewide.

I deeply encourage you to reach out to me if there is any part of you that is curious about sex therapy, EMDR, or treatment for ADHD / trauma.
“A lesson taught with humor is a lesson retained.” ― Ruth K. Westheimer I begin with this quote by a well-known sex therapist and individual who pioneered the discussion surrounding sexual wellbeing, healthy relationships, and enjoying sex throughout the adult lifespan. While this is not the only focus in my practice, I incorporate sexual health into my practice prior to beginning my journey towards AASECT certification. As a therapist and social worker, I incorporate trauma informed care, strengths-based perspective, and understanding of the person in their environment.

You've been wondering if you have ADHD , autism, or are highly sensitive. You've been googling "caffeine nap", "best podcasts for women with ADHD " and "how'd I end up in a toxic relationship". Piles of clutter, 17 unfinished projects, and that reminder of a missed appointment you just got feel like further evidence that you're not enough. You've managed and masked well until now, but suddenly your quirks have become magnified, and the shame and blame intensified. You rocked that killer presentation but escaped to the bathroom to cry because you felt so overwhelmed. You're lost, stuck, and sad.

As a cisgender, queer, able-bodied, white woman with ADHD , I have the honor and privilege to work with all human beings.
Acceptance might be the first step to change, but change is hard. I aim to create a supportive, holistic, empowering, and safe setting to process and understand what is specifically challenging for you. Often, my clients feel like they “don’t belong,” stuck in unwanted behaviors or looking to understand themselves better. I believe by attuning compassionately to our bodies and minds, as well as each other, we can sense what needs to change and heal. Also, I consider myself a very real person in the therapy space, which often includes understanding, laughter, radical acceptance, forgiveness, and open and honest communication.

I specialize in folks with ADHD , and am trained as a ADHD -CCSP for teens and adults, who are trying to navigate through the world within the lens of their neurodiversity.
Accepting new clients as of January, 2023! I believe that every person has the right to be treated with individual care. Because we are all unique, what works for one person may not work for the next. I like to approach helping you with a fresh lens every time, getting to know you, and finding which therapeutic approach to best help your situation. Building a relationship of trust and openness is the most important part to therapy, as well as creating an atmosphere where you feel safe and secure in your journey. Maybe you’ve done this before, and maybe this is your first time in therapy; I want to find what works best for you.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
