I work with: persons who had emotionally immature parents, cycles of complex and generational
trauma
, healing from rigid social & religious communities, and persons discovering self-empowerment.
We don't have to travel the path of change alone. As we create trust and safety in our therapeutic relationship, you’ll find greater margin and curiosity around the complexity of your experience. Inner growth and understanding is accelerated when we have safe and supportive counsel. My role: to help you discover and give yourself permission to see, to feel, to know the reality that is arising in the moment rather than bracing to react to it. Anxiety, depression and other symptoms may be limiting you right now. But the good news is we have all that we need inside and our work can help you discover it and bring it out into the open.

"What is within you that longs to come forth, what waits for you to say Yes?" In my work with clients we work together as a team to create a mutual, shared space of compassion, caring and healing. In this space, problems are explored together, losses and hurts are held together. Where there is
trauma
, it is transformed through bodily-centered somatic therapy and EMDR. I bring a wide array of therapeutic techniques, from ancient wisdom traditions to cutting edge neurobiology, to support your healing and provide practical skills for reaching your goals. Whatever difficulties you face - healing is the rule, not the exception.

Therapy is a place for yourself or your loved one to take time to build self-care, self-reflection, insight and skills to manage the symptoms they are experiencing. Many adults and youth experience symptoms of depression, anxiety or are overcoming issues of past
trauma
that plays in to their ability to go about life. Sometimes relationships, school or work are harder to navigate, build or maintain. Sometimes self-esteem and self-worth can interfere with our abilities to experience healthy relationships whether that is with friends, peers or family members. Coming to therapy can help you build skills to navigate these hardships.

I see individuals with anxiety, depression, phobias, dissociative disorders, and with histories of
trauma
, (including service members returning from Afghanistan and Iraq). I use EMDR combined with other client-centered therapies. What is most important, however, is that your therapy is tailored to your individual needs and does not follow a strict set of guidelines. Using a humanistic and transpersonal approach, we explore how longstanding beliefs and values affect how you feel about yourself and about the choices you make. We will identify and eliminate your "stumbling blocks" so that you feel in control of your destiny.

My passion is working with clients who have experienced some form of
trauma
in their life.
Psychotherapy provides a safe place to discuss fears, thoughts, and difficult decisions we as humans must make during our journey in life. I believe we are capable of making life changes with the right tools. I am here to listen without judgement. I believe we all have a story to share. Being heard is one of the most important aspects of communication.

I have received specialized training in the treatment of
PTSD
, grief and loss and relationship problems.
When we struggle with depression, anxiety, pain from the past, or traumatic stress, our relationships struggle too. Often the pain experienced in relationships with our loved ones is what drives us to find relief and solutions from the disconnect and disruption we are in the midst of. We don't just want to feel better, we want to be better: Better to ourselves, better to those we love. Engaging in therapy and neurofeedback is about looking for the solutions that will enable us to move beyond the obstacles and into the connections we really desire.

I have experience and great passion for helping those individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, fear, and the memories of past traumatic experiences that continue to have an affect on how they live their lives today. After meeting with and learning more about you, we will together decide on the most effective type of therapy to help you move forward with your life. Many therapies can be successful but I believe it ultimately comes down to the relationship that develops between the client and therapist, and the amount of work and effort put into making change happen.

I enjoy working with people who are interested in exploring their story. Often we face struggle and
trauma
in our life that cause us to behave in certain ways. My clients are often asking themselves why they behave in a certain way even if it is not working for them. They are curious about how past hurts and struggles may still be impacting them to this day.

These therapies can gradually change patterns of stress and

that have been deeply held in the mind-body, often beginning in early childhood.
Hi there, currently my practice is full again. I'm a good fit for clients who want to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and seek to take personal responsibility around how they show up in their life and relationships. Doing inner transformational work can feel messy and unpleasant at times, and I will do my best to support you with respect and honesty in this process. We can explore your past and present experiences at a pace that works for you so that you can build clarity and resilience. If you'd like to send me a message, please also include your insurance and schedule availability.

When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
