My counseling/ coaching approach is deeply influenced by the work of Brene Brown, John Gottman, and Robert Kegan.
As a military Chaplain and relationship coach for over 20 years, I have worked with individuals & couples from every demographic. Working together, we have tackled a diverse and comprehensive list of challenges. I have learned from my own life , and decades of clinical experience, that we all have struggles and most often they are a consequence of avoiding emotional/psychological or spiritual pain. My passion is assisting people in their pursuit of purpose, meaning, and healing. I have found that wholeness, restoration, and joy come as we willingly walk the path to healing through the corridor of emotional pain.

I believe that as we heal your somatic narrative & younger wounds your mind & choices in life will naturally follow to align with your body’s inner work.
What is happening for you internally? Why is your heart racing? Why did you react that way? Many of us did not grow up learning how to listen to our physical symptoms & emotions or learn that the messages they hold are there to help us. When stress, trauma, & emotions are left without care they become stuck energy in our bodies. We will focus on building safety to come into contact with those places. As we learn & understand the energy, patterns, & younger parts within you, we will discover unmet needs & burdens you hold in your body. Then we bring care & release to those places. My goal is empowerment to listen to & trust yourself.

I have experience and great passion for helping those individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, fear, and the memories of past traumatic experiences that continue to have an affect on how they live their lives today. After meeting with and learning more about you, we will together decide on the most effective type of therapy to help you move forward with your life . Many therapies can be successful but I believe it ultimately comes down to the relationship that develops between the client and therapist, and the amount of work and effort put into making change happen.

Make the time like your life depends on it, because it does.
Therapy and Consultation for Professionals...Are you feeling burned out, having trouble sleeping, difficulty concentrating, or feeling like you are not helping your patients or clients as much as you would like to? Maybe you are having a difficult time enjoying the work that you once felt passionate about? Perhaps you are finding that your own unresolved trauma is being triggered in your work and you are having a tough time being fully present. Counter-transference may also be showing up in ways that are not always helpful to those you serve, which can happen when we are experiencing compassion fatigue.

It takes courage to seek help. Whether you are trying to make an important decision, facing a crisis, or in the middle of a major transition in your life , it makes sense to seek counsel. Sometime we’re feeling stuck and isolated while longing for more community and personal growth. Unresolved childhood issues, grief, and/or trauma can negatively impact your understanding of self and your view of others. It can lead to anxiety, depression and negatively affect your ability to develop healthy relationships.

Life Coaching Therapists

What can I expect from life coaching?

Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?

Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?

Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?

Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
