I am interested in the meanings that you make from your life experiences and the influence that these have on your perspectives of yourself, your relationships, and your future. I find that viewing problems as separate from personhood helps to lessen feelings of guilt and shame so that we can work together in a collaborative environment. My training in family systems theory informs my view of people in the context of their relationships, environment, and culture. I consider it a privilege to work with people to bring about the changes they desire in their lives and relationships.

I AM NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS. Why get therapy? It's hard work and involves change. But for most people, it's worth it. Therapy is taking care of and investing in yourself. It means you are ready to look at the parts of your life that are not working well-the parts that are hurt, broken or in pain. As your therapist, I will listen with empathy and compassion. Together, we will establish goals and focus on what might make your life better by helping you build resilience and develop coping skills. Through this work, you can learn to be in healthy relationships with others and ultimately with yourself.

Life has changed for many of us over the last few years as we acknowledged fears, evaluated relationships, identified priorities, and created goals. Many of the clients I work with desire to process childhood trauma or life stressors that impact their relationships, careers, faith, and self-confidence. We work together to identify what is working and what is hindering you from living a life you wake up excited to participate in. We then create a self-tailored action plan with a therapy style that fits your personality and needs to create a life you love!

Maybe you've been here before, clicked out of the tab, only to search again later. It is daunting scrolling through the pictures and trying to find the right face. You know...the one with whom you can share your story. The story lurking back in the corner of your mind that you might not feel ready to face. We all have a story to tell. Getting to know our own stories can be scary, terrifying even. It can be painful. However, finding the right person to help you learn about yourself is a task totally worth hanging in there—for a few more clicks, some e-mails, maybe some phone calls.

Positive Psychology is a valuable tool for reaching new heights, finding one's goals, and feeling supported during challenging times. A trusted psychologist tries to remind others of their strengths, how to center, maintain self-regulation and feel more solid in oneself. I specialize in supporting women, college-aged individuals, young women and teens. I have always focused on anxiety and depression and find them quite treatable when one is motivated.

Even though it may not seem like it, often times our symptoms are messengers from a deep part of our own psyche, sent to inform us that we need to find new ways of relating to ourselves and those around us in order to reach our next level of growth. My philosophy is one of wholeness; our bodies, emotions, thoughts, and background work in unison to inform our present experience. It is my goal to help you find more flexibility within your experience, so that you can move towards the life that you truly want to be living.

I believe our most painful times are often the times we grow and develop into who we are meant to be. I work with people who are struggling to deal with trauma and life transitions, including (but not limited to) parenthood, divorce, and relational and religious trauma experiences. I believe that attachment and trauma are at the core of many of our issues and anxieties. Our past traumas have a way of working themselves into our present and disrupting our lives and our joy. Often, these disruptions are our body’s way of asking us to work through the broken stories of our past so that we can move forward and truly enjoy life.

Infertility Therapists
How can infertility affect couples and their relationship?
Clients who are dealing with infertility may experience conflict and communication problems. It’s not unusual for shame, blame, and guilt to arise in cases of infertility, whether the source of the problem is one partner or both. This means that clients are upset and pulling away from their partner just when they need them the most. Some clients may find it difficult to spend time around friends and family who are pregnant. Friends and family can also make hurtful comments that increase tension during this time.
How does therapy for infertility issues work?
The therapist will begin by gathering information about the client or couple and make a treatment plan for their specific concerns. In addition to addressing common mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, and trauma reactions or PTSD, therapists can help clients improve their decision-making and deal with stressors unique to infertility. Some examples include coping with the “two-week wait” before a pregnancy test, the distress associated with a failed attempt or miscarriage, and the shame and blame sometimes associated with reproductive concerns.
What type of therapy is best for infertility issues?
Many therapists offer psychotherapy for individuals and couples who are dealing with infertility issues. Some helpful therapeutic approaches include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which can aid clients in reframing negative thoughts about their situation. Expressive writing and art therapy can help clients process difficult feelings. Clients might also benefit from group therapy to experience support from others who are dealing with the same problems.
How long does therapy for infertility issues take?
There is no set length for therapy that addresses infertility or reproductive concerns. Some clients might find it helpful to continue therapy during their pregnancy to have healthy ways to cope with any associated stress, anxiety, depression, or trauma. Some clients who decide not to pursue fertility treatments might benefit from the support of a therapist. The duration of therapy varies depending on the individual client’s specific needs and goals.
