Hi, I'm Yi-Lun (ee-LOON), a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with experience working with individuals and families across diverse settings. I believe therapy works best when you can be real—no performing or saying all the "right" things. I draw from CBT, DBT, ACT, EFT, and IFS-informed approaches. I work with neurodivergent individuals, provide gender-affirming care, and offer therapy in Mandarin. Your path is unique, and you're not here to be "fixed." I bring genuine care, cultural humility, and humor when the moment calls for it.

I believe that for therapy to be effective, a space must be created in which the client feels safe to become their full authentic self. When the individual is seen and heard without judgement, acceptance and growth can begin to unfold.

For 25 years I worked with over 16,000 suicidal patients on the mental health unit of St.
Clients come to me often feeling "trapped, stuck, and lost." Initially, they look at the CCT Questionnaire posted on my CCT website (www.SuicideTherapy.com) and. If they can circle 5 or more statements as "True", then chances are we will be a good fit. I offer a creative approach using expressive arts to ask new questions to solve the underlying problem.

I support teens who struggle with self-harm, suicidal ideation, and emotion regulation challenges.
Parents - does this sound familiar? Your teen experiences every situation with deep emotional intensity. Like a leaf in the wind, the slightest breeze seems to send your teen - and your family - into a spiral. You tiptoe on eggshells around them because you feel helpless on how to support them, and you are terrified that they might make a split-second decision or take things too far. You don't want to put them through the hospital system, but you want to make sure they get the care they need. If this sounds like you, you're in the right place.

My goal is to create a space for you to bring yourself and be heard. I enjoy getting to know the people I work with and if you choose the work with me, the rich/complicated narrative of how you came to be who you are today. My role is to be present with you and to hold space so that together we can find each next step in your ongoing journey. We can enter this space together and create something new. A different way of seeing, a different path in a stuck area of life or an expanded understanding and grace for yourself. Bring yourself, as you are, with your strengths and stress and struggles.

I strive to see the unseen. As a trans man, I understand the importance of having a therapist who is not only an ally but a member of the LGBTQIA+ community. Oftentimes, people in our community come to therapy with a host of interconnected struggles that all tie together somehow. The ideal client is someone who comes to therapy with an open mind, willingness to talk and explore the issues they struggle with - be it issues with gender dysphoria, sexuality, depression, anxiety, or any other issue they struggle with in life.

I screen clients for anxiety, depression, and PTSD, including suicidal ideation, while recognizing treatment is not limited to these areas.
I have over 10 years of experience helping adults and children heal from trauma, anxiety, depression, and PTSD. I specialize in EMDR therapy, which helps reduce symptoms such as nightmares, hypervigilance (fight, flight, freeze), and emotional distress by reprocessing traumatic experiences. I use an integrative, flexible approach that may also include CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, and an understanding of epigenetics—the way emotional patterns can be passed through generations. Telehealth is available for added flexibility. I invite you to reach out for a free consultation to see if we’re a good fit.

Sometimes life feels, and is, harder than it looks from the outside. Old wounds show up in unexpected ways: through self-doubt, strained relationships, or just that sense of bracing yourself all the time. It’s exhausting, and even when things are “fine,” it can feel like you’re never fully at ease. Underneath it all is a desire for more steadiness, clarity, and a chance to actually enjoy life instead of just pushing through it. That's where therapy can make a difference. It can enable self trust and self worth that creates endless resilience.

Suicidal Ideation Therapists
How does therapy for suicidal ideation work?
Stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances can give rise to suicidal thinking. Therapy can address the events at the core of an individual’s suffering. Understanding why a person may be suicidal can help the therapist and the patient discover alternative methods of coping. A person with suicidal ideation may be mired in catastrophic thinking, and treatment like cognitive behavioral therapy is a good choice for breaking such patterns. In addition, treatment such as acceptance and commitment therapy can help a person manage their distress through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for suicidal ideation?
Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual tolerate distress, regulate emotions, and not act on dangerous urges.

Are there specific medications to be combined with therapy?
The use of medication for suicidal thoughts must be aligned with the underlying cause; conditions such as depression, anxiety, and psychosis may be at the root of suicidal ideation. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for symptoms, which may include antipsychotics such as aripiprazole or antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.

How often and how long are therapy sessions for suicidal ideation?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. Still other patients, especially those with co-occurring conditions like major depression and anxiety, may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months. In some cases, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm.
