I draw from various approaches to align with what works for you, including attachment theory, parts work, somatic therapy, and narrative therapy.
I believe therapy should be a collaborative, empowering experience. I'm passionate about working with BIPOC/multiracial, LGBTQIA+, and/or neurodivergent (ADHD/Autism) individuals who value deep reflection and would like to co-create a vision for their healing. Past traumas and oppressive systems can impact our sense of self, belonging, agency, and safety. We can navigate these complexities together while also seeking out moments of joy.

These include psychodynamic and depth psychology approaches, body-centered techniques like somatic awareness, mindfulness practices, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
Hello! I'm Christie, and I’m honored to support your wellbeing and hear your story. I’m completing my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Northwestern University, after a 20-year career leading teams in consulting, brand marketing, and product innovation. As a 1.5-generation Taiwanese American who transitioned to counseling from the corporate world, I understand how challenging it can be to reconcile bicultural identities shaped by different values and make sense of what you truly want. I'm interested in helping you gain clarity as you make sense of these complex dynamics and invite your own voice and desires to emerge.

” My approach is rooted in the depth psychology tradition but informed by somatic (body based) and neurobiological modalities.
I offer psychotherapy to people who feel drawn to explore and expand their self awareness and transform emotional confusion and suffering. I believe that it’s in relationship with others where we are harmed and it’s also in relationship with others where we can heal. The therapy relationship facilitates a healing conversation because it is a place of safety where you can begin to expand your ability to communicate, develop your capacity for self compassion, deepen your emotional understanding, and increase your self confidence.

I offer cognitive therapies which can provide practical ways of working through problems, emotion focused therapies which can help us identify emotional blocks, and somatic therapies which helps us tend our mind-body connection.
Fact: Life can be devastating and hard. Also fact: Life can be breathtakingly beautiful. How can we hold both of these things to be true? Therapy can be a place to learn and practice how to cope with and make something meaningful out of life's biggest setbacks and challenges. If you are asking yourself "Why do I do this?" "Why do I feel this way?" "Why can't I stop thinking about this?" "Who am I?" "How do I figure out the next step in my life?" I welcome you to therapy where we can create the time and space to sit deeply with these questions.

I use a mix of modalities depending on what we're working on, including psychodynamic psychotherapy, somatic (body-based) approaches, mindfulness, and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
I help LBTQIA+ people and women heal from anxiety, trauma, and disconnection from self and others. You might be struggling to figure out who you are or how you feel. Maybe you're anxious a lot of the time. Past experiences keep getting in the way of living your current life. You're struggling to make connections with friends and loved ones, or you have a hard time asserting yourself with the people in your life. You've been experiencing these issues for years, and you've tried to change them on your own, but the changes don't stick. You're ready to get to the root of things so you can really shift the way your life is unfolding.

I often draw from somatic therapy, narrative therapy, psychodynamic therapy, inner-child work, trauma-informed care...
I am so glad you are here. Whether this is your first time working with a professional counselor or you are seeking to change counselors, congratulate yourself—it is a big step to trust yourself and seek support. I work with individuals and couples who are looking to explore who they are and how they can make sense of the world around them more clearly. Folks who may be experiencing anxiety and depression, or even trying to figure out if that is what they should call it. In my work with couples I look to support and facilitate healthy communication and individual and collective understanding.

I specialize in somatic therapy, which means I help you identify how and where you hold, block and release emotion and energy in your body.
Like the forest, healing happens in layers. It happens in cycles, in connection and in overlooked places. If you long for ease, alignment and clarity, I would be honored to walk beside you. Whether you're navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, depression, major life transitions, or feeling stuck, our work together will be a space where you can slow down, breathe, and reconnect with yourself.

Wherever you find yourself on your journey, therapy offers an opportunity to reflect, reconnect, and grow. Together, we’ll celebrate your identities, strengthen your relationships, discover your pleasure, and begin to break free from limiting expectations. Let’s work together to create a space where you feel understood, valued, and empowered to live your most authentic life.

I incorporate movement and body awareness into therapy, which is informed by my yoga training, sensorimotor and somatic therapies.
You're probably feeling stuck. You might be feeling unhappy, depressed, anxious, disconnected, and self-critical. You may have been through a trauma, recently or years ago. You are ready to make a change - any change - but you aren’t sure where to start or how. At this point, you might even be lost trying to find a therapist. You have probably looked at what feels like a million profiles and websites, and everyone is starting to sound the same. Take a deep breath. You WILL find what you need.

My work is intuitive, and may include parts work, somatic awareness and evidenced-based DBT and MBCT interventions.
I believe that much of what troubles us arises not from weakness but from misaligned expectations—of ourselves, of others, of life itself. Many of the individuals I work with are deeply introspective, attuned to the complexities of their inner world yet feel weighed down by self-criticism or feelings of inadequacy and shame. These are signals from wounded parts, asking to be understood. I am here to remind you that you matter and that you are so much stronger than you realize or may give yourself credit for. Together we can untangle the threads of your story and illuminate the practice of returning to love, self-belief and presence.

I care about the somatic effects that the body has on your mental health, as well as the effects of your community and resources.
Hello and welcome. At some point in their lives, everyone faces losses and big change. The grief that comes with this can be an overwhelming mix of sorrow, confusion, anger, relief, joy, and any number of other emotions. Grief can feel both unique and unifying. Oftentimes people do not know how to talk to those closest to them about their experiences of loss, and choose to seek outside help.

My goal is to met each client where they are at and to pull from different theories (e.g., attachment, mindfulness, somatic) to co-create a therapy that is unique to each client.
Choosing a therapist is a deeply personal decision. It's important to find someone that you can relate to and most importantly someone that you trust. We will work together to create a secure relationship, where you begin to feel less alone experiencing emotional vulnerability. It is my belief that lasting growth does not occur as a result of insight and understanding alone. Deep healing and change happen when you are able to explore new emotional experiences and to try new behaviors, in the presence of a supportive person (therapist).

I’ve been in private practice for nearly 20 years. My passion is to work with individuals, couples, and groups who are committed to growth and change. I want to empower people to be more connected and integrated with the core of who they are and the roles they are living. I work with a combination of somatic approaches that examine how the body holds our thoughts, beliefs, stressors, and anxieties and how to understand, relieve, and shift them.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
