You are a high performer who is stuck & looking for outside help. You want to have a secure & loving relationship. You want to heal from past hurts, connect with your inner compass & shift towards healthier ways of living. In couples counseling, my husband & I work as a team to help couples grow together. As former high tech & legal professionals, we understand how work demands can impact your quality of life. As parents, we get how children are both a joy & a stressor in relationships. As an intercultural couple, we recognize the challenges in bridging different world views.

I specialize in treatment of trauma, anxiety and self esteem .
My therapy practice is humanistic, client centered & mind/body/spirit oriented. Above all, I believe the answers are within you. I will never invalidate your experience, or feelings; I will never tell you to move on, get over, or let go of something that is weighing on you. I want to explore, uncover and help you process what is stuck and holding you back. When past experiences are treated with honor and loving kindness, instead of shame, blame, or are minimized, they have opportunity to heal. Your innate resilience has opportunity to kick in & you can achieve your goals. I strive to create a warm, safe & nurturing space

Having a hard time? It's been a difficult few years, and finding joy and fulfillment in our daily lives can seem equally hard. Hard, but not impossible. Therapy can help you build the skills to navigate life’s challenges with gratitude and authenticity. Is it a magic wand? Of course not, it takes work and a commitment to yourself. But a dedicated time to focus on addressing your fears, learning coping skills, and building your self-esteem and relationship skills, can be life-changing and empowering. I see clients do it all the time, and I'd be honored to help you get there.

A graduate from Seattle University's social justice-based clinical mental health master's program, I specialize in working with queer people struggling with self-esteem, coming out, minority stress, internalized homophobia, and addictions. Do you feel like an apparent superficiality within the queer community is bringing you down? Do you spend too much time on apps looking for validation, but end up feeling worse? Are you able to talk to your family about your partner? In our first session, I might ask, “Who are you?” I want to work with you to help you become someone you trust.

Sure, you've been suffering from crippling self-doubt, constant worrying, deep feelings of shame, hurtful self-talk, chronic people-pleasing, and general unfulfillment. I specialize in working with gender identity development (transgender, non-binary individuals), gender dysphoria, and sexual orientation. I primarily work with children, adolescents, and young adults. Treatment focus includes anxiety management, gender dysphoria, improving self-esteem, connection to community, relationship skills, and readiness to transition (if desired). Whether you're exploring new feelings of gender variance or have been identifying as trans* for years, there are times when falling outside the traditional gender binary can bring up feelings of anxiety, stress, or confusion. Working with a therapist trained in LGBTQIA issues and gender non-conformity can help.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
