These include, Relational Psychodynamic Theory, Attachment Theory, and Trauma Theory.
I seek to create a warm, down-to-earth, and accepting experience for you to explore the hard-ass things in life. Many of us, myself included, were rarely taught how to connect with and understand our emotions, and so when we experience difficult feelings like shame, fear, and pain, we don’t know how to engage them in a helpful way. But that can change. We will work together to promote positive change and restore direction, meaning, and resilience during these difficult times. We will be teammates in our work together.

I currently work with individuals, and couples. I strive to create a trusting, safe and empowering environment in order to promote positive change. I believe that our early relationships influence and shape our relationships into adulthood. Exploring these past relationships is essential for change because they contribute to our current life stressors, negative thinking patterns, relationships and our ability to cope with challenges. I incorporate, attachment theory, dialectal behavior therapy, cognitive behavior therapy and psychodynamic therapy in treatment. My desire is to assist you in understanding yourself, and learn tools to thrive in all aspects of your life.

My approach is primarily relational but borrows from psychodynamic , psychoanalytic and attachment therapies.
**CURRENTLY OFFERING TELETHERAPY SESSIONS in ARIZONA & WASHINGTON** Relationships can be challenging, particularly the ones that are most important to us. We want to feel known, connected and loved but often end up hurt and lonely, stuck in patterns which aren't working. Relational pain can show up as anxiety, fear, depression or grief among other things. I have extensive training in Psychodyamic Therapy. I have also learned directly from masters in the field of Couples Therapy: John & Julie Gottman and Phil Ringstrom to address these very issues.

My main approach is Psychodynamic Therapy, which addresses the root cause of emotional and mental problems.
Have you been struggling through life lately? Or maybe you feel stuck, like something is preventing you from becoming you really are, or who you really want to be? Maybe you've been feeling worried or overwhelmed, lost meaning and purpose in life, or more distant from the people you care about. Maybe you've tried to make changes to make your life better, or maybe you don't even know where to begin. That's okay, you're in the right spot. I help people just like you overcome the struggles and setbacks in their life. Together we can get you from feeling overwhelmed, unmotivated, and disconnected to calm, confident, and centered.

My therapeutic orientation is psychodynamic in nature, based on the observation that people are often unaware of unconscious influences that determine their perceptions and actions.  Lack of awareness can often lead to behavior that often constrains their abilities to fully comprehend or work through the difficulties they are facing.  My hope is to help remove problematic symptoms that prohibit individuals from participating in meaningful relationships and leading full and productive lives as an active and positive contributor to their community.

My therapy practice is humanistic, client centered & mind/body/spirit oriented. Above all, I believe the answers are within you. I will never invalidate your experience, or feelings; I will never tell you to move on, get over, or let go of something that is weighing on you. I want to explore, uncover and help you process what is stuck and holding you back. When past experiences are treated with honor and loving kindness, instead of shame, blame, or are minimized, they have opportunity to heal. Your innate resilience has opportunity to kick in & you can achieve your goals. I strive to create a warm, safe & nurturing space

I work from a psychodynamic approach, which seeks to understand symptoms rather than just manage them, views most human experiences as containing conflicting thoughts and feelings, and believes that self-honesty is fundamental to growth and healing.
There's a certain feeling of a "click" when someone really gets what you're saying; that's what I'm always after in session. I'll keep an eye out for your signs that you're not feeling heard, and encourage you to voice your reactions to me and to our therapy. I hope that from a base of a strong understanding, we will develop the space to re-examine some of your assumptions and consider your difficulties from new angles.

My therapeutic work incorporates psychodynamic and humanistic approaches as needed for a particular person and situation.
My approach involves meeting each individual person where they are when they start therapy and forming a warn collaborative relationship. I provide a safe and comfortable environment in which people can explore the concerns that brought them into psychotherapy. Relationships are complex and people often want to understand more about how they interact with others and evolve in a way that promotes having better relationships.

I use an attachment-based, psychodynamic , and intersectional feminist approach to therapy.
I specialize in couples therapy, where I help partners work toward relational repair after infidelity, betrayal, or ongoing conflict. I also work with individuals who want to work through attachment and relationship issues, identity development, spirituality, trauma, anxiety, and depression. Therapy is work that asks a great deal from us, but it also holds potential for meaningful change: to awaken to your own life, to make strides toward repairing broken bonds, and to imagine new possibilities and new ways of being, for yourself and for your relationships.

My therapeutic framework is intersectional, relational & psychodynamic .
Our inner worlds are complex & influenced by a myriad of ever changing experiences & relationships. Some of these factors highjack our security in who we are & limit our ability to authentically participate in our own lives. Therapy is an invitation to examine your narrative & grow an imagination for what kind of life you want to live as a result. Developing a more expansive understanding of yourself enables a unique brand of resiliency, flexibility & courage to live with more creativity & freedom. We come to know ourselves best in relationship & my hope is ours becomes a safe homebase as you live out the hard questions of life.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
