I am a dedicated and compassionate therapist who combines therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Parts Work, and EMDR with knowledge gained from ten years of non-profit work supporting survivors of violence on their journeys.
My therapeutic focus is working with survivors of violence, guiding them through the complex process of healing and reclaiming their lives. I understand the unique challenges that survivors face and provide a supportive environment where they can explore their emotions, build resilience, and regain a sense of control.

In addition to existential humanistic psychotherapy, I have training in mindfulness, attachment based therapy, EMDR, somatic experiencing, and expressive arts therapies.
I believe that all mental anguish begins with loneliness and disconnection. This is why my approach to psychotherapy is grounded fundamentally in the relationship that we build together. Together we will move through suffering, creatively identifying new possibilities and ways of experiencing life. We will find hope and build your capacity to love both yourself and others more fully. From within this relationship, you will be able to safely try new things, to see what works for you, to ultimately move forward in your life with more ease. I like the expression "human flourishing" to describe this process.

I use mindfulness exercises and deep breathing and other skills to combat anxiety, intrusive thoughts, PTSD, and other mental health symptoms.
People who feel unable to move forward, are often feeling stuck from past trauma, anxiety, grief or depression. I work collaboratively with people who want to move forward with change, one step at a time. I understand that people have trouble moving past obstacles of life. It is my passion to help others. Allow me to help you get where you want to go.

I am extensively trained in a variety of evidence-based treatments, including CBT, mindfulness and compassion-based treatments, and trauma-focused treatments (CPT and PE), and I am able to tailor my treatment approach to address your unique needs.
On the surface, you seem to have it all together, but inside, you’re overwhelmed, burned out, and stuck in an exhausting loop of overthinking and perfectionism. Maybe the weight of anxiety, self-doubt, or past traumas is holding you back, and you’re craving clarity and a sense of peace. You want to quiet the racing thoughts, set boundaries, and reconnect with what truly matters, but you feel unsure how to start. Sound familiar? Together, we can help you find relief, gain clarity, and create a life that feels aligned, fulfilling, and authentically yours.

I may draw on attachment theory, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to explore how your thoughts affect your emotions, while also striving to create a therapeutic experience that feels safe and supportive.
Sometimes the current challenges of our lives, as well as unhealed wounds from the past, impede our ability to live as fully as we aspire. Through creating a safe and compassionate therapeutic space, I strive to work collaboratively with clients to consider a variety of possibilities in how they relate to and meet their unique life challenges. Ultimately, I believe that being understood is a powerful catalyst for change.

Generally, my approach integrates mindfulness, behavioral, cognitive, and relational.
My approach ultimately depends on what your needs are. Fundamentally, I believe there are a few core, shared aspects to life that we all relate to: Understanding the self, finding purpose, experiencing fully, and relationships. My therapeutic approach is centered on you and your needs, collaborative, and grounded in evidence and years of experience.

I draw from attachment theory, psychodynamic and Buddhist psychology, CBT, DBT, Internal Family Systems, EMDR & Mindfulness.
We each have the ability to adapt, overcome adversity, feel joy and sorrow, love, and reach our highest potential. Stressful life events, trauma, loss, conflicts, illness, and transitions can overwhelm our ability to cope. Healing becomes blocked. We become stuck. We protect and defend ourselves to avoid ever feeling that pain again. Solutions that once worked become part of the problem. When the traumatic wound is triggered, we experience intense emotion and distorted ways of thinking. In therapy, we journey together to uncover and remove the blocks to healing, transforming pain and loss into meaning, awareness, and choice.

My approach integrates mindfulness-based practices, cognitive-behavioral techniques, and experiential methods, designed to get to the root of your challenges.
With compassion, curiosity, honesty, and loving presence, I will help guide you to slow down and deeply observe your present-moment experience. This increased awareness helps you recognize habitual patterns and core beliefs that may no longer serve you, allowing you to respond more intentionally and make meaningful changes.

Therapy might include: processing stressful situations or challenging life history, increasing healthy coping skills, sleep hygiene, mindfulness practice, shifting thoughts/beliefs, trying new activities or acting differently, decision making, taking on anxiety-provoking memories or situations, examining relationships, and communication skill building.
I counsel people who strive to excel and do good in the world. They often start therapy during transitions, needing to recalibrate old ways of thinking and acting to feel and function better. Some work in stressful careers and struggle with mood, motivation, attention, and work-life balance. Some experience social anxiety, avoidance, isolation, conflict, or depression. Some suffer with intrusive thoughts, avoidance, “stuck” thoughts, and distress associated with trauma. Some express systemic, existential, and spiritual concerns for the world. Some are young-adult or middle-aged men striving to adapt and grow through life’s stages.

I am an advanced level DBT practitioner as well as a certified Mindfulness Teacher.
In my years of practice, I have found that I am able to meet most people in whatever situation they are facing with kindness and compassion. As we bear witness together to your concern, a path forward emerges. The core of my work is to listen to your experience and to your needs and to bring to bear all my training to meet the needs that are revealed. If the person entering my practice is needing for ex skills for emotion reg I am able to identify collaboratively the best approach for skills attainment, if compassionate listening is enough, that is also respected. I tend to move flexibly and responsively to you.

Mindfulness techniques give you healthy ways for managing and overcoming difficult life issues that have kept you stuck and uncertain in your personal and professional life.
Is it sometimes a struggle for you to feel comfortable being yourself around others? Maybe you tend to keep your opinions and feelings to yourself unless you’re sure you won’t be judged by family and friends? Loyalty and being there for loved ones is important to you and you’ll often drop what you’re doing when it feels you’re needed by a friend or family member. Unfortunately, it may not seem that they do the same for you when you’re the one feeling upset or overwhelmed. You may be afraid to bring this up, worried that they'll think you're overreacting. Deep down, you want to share your feelings without it becoming an argument.

My therapy style is heavily grounded in mindfulness practices and yoga philosophy.
You're probably feeling stuck. You might be feeling unhappy, depressed, anxious, disconnected, and self-critical. You may have been through a trauma, recently or years ago. You are ready to make a change - any change - but you aren’t sure where to start or how. At this point, you might even be lost trying to find a therapist. You have probably looked at what feels like a million profiles and websites, and everyone is starting to sound the same. Take a deep breath. You WILL find what you need.

In my practice I work using mindfulness techniques and body awareness to allow integration of mind, emotion, body and spirit.
I work with individuals who are noticing a change in themselves through life transition, relationship loss, grief symptoms, feeling sadness 'when everything seems fine.' I work with clients who are experiencing long established triggers and grief symptoms through gentleness, safety, and respect for defenses. I have faith in the natural tendency of humans to grow toward healing and integration of mind, body, and spirit.
