Insight is the cornerstone of change. Oftentimes we know something is wrong, and
what we would like to see different but the process of doing so is muddled and
uncertain. You may be uncertain in how to identify and express your feelings, have
complicated relationships, a shaky self-concept, have experienced severe trauma, or a
variety of concerns. Therapy is a way to sift through complex emotions, memories and
motivations to determine your path forward; what you want to retain, discard, or change. Therapy is like a tough hike: sometimes I will lead, sometimes you will lead, but I’ll always make sure we’re safe as we do.

I am currently offering virtual and in-person sessions for clients in Washington state, as well as in all PSYPACT participating states.
As a specialist in Rehabilitation Psychology, I most often work closely with patients who are managing complex social and medical situations. I build trust and connect with patients about their concerns, fears, and hopes. Most clients are striving to feel more connected to their community and building meaning in their lives. We can all improve in these areas and the science of psychology offers wonderful tools to accomplish these goals. I believe strongly in the power of human resilience in the face of adversity.

I currently have openings and see folks primarily in person in Queen Anne.
Having an emotional life can be overwhelming, lonely, and disorienting. Perhaps you've never had the chance, or it feels unsafe, or you've never been understood. You feel stuck and don't really know how to think about this emotional life. Our feelings are where we build a life, an identity, and an inner foundation. Life can 'look' great on paper but feel very different. Therapy is where we begin to get back in touch with and live from this emotional place - the internal gym of our life. It's through relationships that we've been hurt and where we start to grow again.

I also work in-person for the same reason.
I work from a psychoanalytic/psychodynamic approach, which seeks to understand symptoms rather than just manage them, views most human experiences as containing conflicting thoughts and feelings, and believes that self-honesty is fundamental to growth and healing.
In practice, patients generally choose where to begin a session and move freely from there. Reflecting on our therapeutic relationship and your experiences of me and of the therapy is also a core aspect of the work; therapy is a safe practice space to explore and experiment with our patterns of relating to another person.

I see therapy as an opportunity to work toward growth, self-discovery, and healing. I believe that people come to me not only with where they may be stuck or hurting, but also with incredible strengths and abilities. Through warmth, collaboration, and direct communication I hope to help uncover patterns that are getting in the way of living well. I use an experiential, emotion + body focused approach along with art therapy and practical tools to develop new ways of experiencing and approaching the hard stuff in life.
