I love working with queer and trans folks, and often encounter those who've been diagnosed with BPD or treatment-resistant depression.
Wow, it is really hard to be a human these days. For you, it's been particularly exasperating for a while, yeah? You feel the world really, really deeply and you're finding it really hard to manage this. Maybe you're moving through your days with a body-full-of-anchors like fatigue, or that self-critical voice has been even louder than ever. Maybe you're at the point where you're really questioning why you feel so depressed, anxious, or shameful. Or, maybe you know the 'why' already but don't know what to do about it. Maybe you have trust issues and you're not sure you could really trust any therapist with your 'stuff' again.

My professional background includes working with survivors of interpersonal violence, working with LGBTQ+ individuals in a community mental health setting, and providing individual and group therapy in a partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient setting to those experiencing mood, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders.
Welcome! My approach to therapy is collaborative and relational. I work to support clients in developing an increasingly complex and embodied understanding of themselves in the context of the relationships and systems that they interact with. Through our work together, clients can expect to uncover habitual patterns of behavior that interfere with living the life they want, and over time to experience an increased sense of choice and flexibility in their actions. I aim to support individuals in developing a greater sense of comfort with themselves, and an increased ability to cope with the inevitable challenges that life offers.

As a gay man from the south, I know firsthand how important it is to work with a counselor who can provide the safety to explore one's self, identity, and relationships within a world that does not always feel accepting.
My clients want change and growth in their lives and/or their relationships, but they often don't know where to start. Or, they might have made the enormous first steps of moving towards change and growth only to feel stuck and unsure of how to move forward. My clients find that within the experience of being truly heard, accepted, validated, and supported, that the door between where they are and the change they want begins to unlock and slowly open. My approach focuses on unlocking and discovering the strengths that we don't always realize we have, on building new coping skills, and on creating new understanding and connections.

I work with queer and trans young adults.
Many of my clients are taking the first steps in processing childhood trauma and challenges. They might be navigating family disconnection or have had negative, abusive, or toxic experiences within church/religion because of their gender or sexuality. Perhaps they are experiencing significant life transitions and just need some extra support along the way.

I'm a LGBTQ Provider.
You can never seem to get on track. You’ve tried everything you can think of, from ideas from YouTube to suggestions from other people. The message you’re getting through life is to try harder. And just trying harder never seems to work. Whether you have ADHD or some of the traits attributed to it, trying harder isn’t going to work. What the well-meaning people who try to help don’t know is that you need to try something different. Each time you lose your keys, forget to turn off the stove, or get sidetracked and lose track of time, you roll your eyes at yourself. Not again!

I work with straight, bisexual and lesbian women.
Has it upset you when people say, "Everything happens for a reason?" I think a better way to think about it is: "We can survive and use everything." I see therapy as an emotional composting. Trauma needs to be transformed into wisdom. We often adapt by becoming anxious over-thinkers, people-pleasers or perfectionists. Do you prioritize other people’s needs over taking care of yourself? This leads to various addictive/numbing behaviors to cope. These patterns get reinforced and even rewarded by our stress junky culture. Eventually it lead to exhaustion, resentments and regret. Turning that around is challenging but therapy can help.
