Are you feeling stuck, unworthy, unmotivated or exhausted? Things are changing fast and it can be really overwhelming. You have tried talk therapy, but you found it can only offer so much. You want to go deeper and process trauma that leads to real change in your life, gets you in touch with your emotions, or allows you to feel things in a way that isn't overwhelming.

I specialize in developing confidence and self-assurance. Feeling uncertain about who you are or where your life is headed is exhausting. You might second-guess your choices, feel disconnected from the people around you, or wonder if you’re “faking it” in ways no one else notices. Everyday life can feel overwhelming and difficult to navigate. Anxiety, self-doubt, and inner conflict make it hard to trust yourself or know what helps. In therapy, we create space to untangle these experiences, understand what drives them, and build clarity, confidence, and ease in how you live.

When we create, we heal. When we heal, we create. In therapy, the goal of our relationship is not to merely tell a good story, but a true story: to collaborate, help you discover more of your fullest and most authentic self, and start living it out. Oftentimes hurt, trauma, and/or harm will destroy our imaginations for a flourishing future. In a creative therapy space, we work to discover and reconnect to our imagination, get a foot in the door to healing, and begin the process of integration. I am committed to helping you experience restoration in your life and relationships, so you may live out your most flourishing story.

Anxiety is a profoundly human feeling, and yet, it often leaves us feeling isolated, uncertain, and unsure of where to turn. Therapy, in my view, is a form of companionship for this journey—someone to walk beside you as you navigate the complexities of your emotions, identities, narratives, relationships, and experiences.

Hi, I'm Steph. I'm an AuDHD queer therapist who approaches therapy with curiosity and collaboration. I enjoy working with sensitive deep thinkers, late-diagnosed neurodivergent adults and adolescents, and people navigating burnout, life transitions, and identity shifts. I work with complex trauma/CPTSD, which is the kind of trauma people accumulate over time. I specialize in religious trauma and deconstruction, intergenerational trauma, chronic illness, and identity-based trauma. I also enjoy working with queer identity exploration, polyamorous folks, and kink.

Modern relationships are HARD. It’s a struggle to find the right person OR to wonder if your current partner is possibly the wrong person. It’s tough when you feel burned by or totally confused about your path. Maybe you’ve even made choices or overlooked things you now regret. Or, maybe it’s a relationship with a boss or coworkers who undervalue you or play favorites with others. Your work ethic and good ideas have long taken a backseat to putting out fires or just avoiding things way more than you should. You’re past thinking that life’s fair. But, you never thought that things could go THIS wrong or get under your skin THIS much.

Welcome to therapy! I’m here to ensure you’re getting a deeper understanding of yourself, behavioral patterns, as well as your relationships. I see individuals and couples and specialize in anxiety and panic disorder management, different forms of relational repair, parenting support/coaching, PTSD, and attachment disorders. I’m from Chicago, so I like to think I balance the ‘Midwestern nice’ with the ‘City of Broad Shoulders’ vibe well. I have a lot of experience working with LGBTQIA+ clients, but that is not to say that I don’t love working with people who do not identify within those identities as well!

These emotional and behavioral patterns seem unshakeable; they show up in relationships and keep you from feeling the joy and genuine connection you desire. You may be able to logically trace these patterns to an origin in childhood trauma or internalized oppression, but in the heat of the moment, it’s as if your body goes on autopilot, and the cycle repeats once again. These patterns have been creating stagnation and isolation that are getting too painful and exhausting to cope with anymore. As a therapist, my goal is to help you transform these patterns so that you can experience a greater sense of agency, belonging, and ease.

Bisexual Therapists
What is bisexual-affirming therapy?
Bisexual-affirming therapy is a type of mental health support that fully affirms and reflects a client’s bisexual identity. It is rooted in acceptance and does not attempt to change or question an individual’s orientation. In this type of therapy, clients work with a therapist who understands the unique experiences of bisexual people. This support is especially important, as research shows that bisexual individuals face higher rates of anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation compared to other groups. Bisexual-affirming therapy acknowledges that bisexual individuals may encounter specific stressors—such as invalidation, relationship challenges, and minority stress—that require specialized understanding and intervention. Many therapists also provide couples therapy for bisexual partners, helping them navigate relationship dynamics, communication challenges, or external stressors that may impact their relationship. While not required, some clients prefer working with bisexual therapists who may bring personal insight to the therapeutic relationship. However, a non-bisexual therapist with strong training and a genuine commitment to affirmation can be equally effective. The most important factor is finding a therapist who understands how identity impacts mental health and can create a space of trust and respect.

What can a bisexual therapist help with?
Bisexual-affirming therapists can provide support across a wide range of concerns relevant to bisexual individuals. Whether through personal or professional experience, they often have specialized knowledge in areas such as the coming out process, navigating stereotypes, and dealing with common stressors. Relationship support is another key area of focus, as bisexual clients may face unique challenge when dating or maintaining relationships across genders. Affirming therapists can also help clients build coping strategies for managing discrimination or stigma. Additionally, many bisexual-affirming therapists can connect clients to other providers or community-based resources—such as bisexual support groups or LGBTQ+ organizations—that offer additional affirming spaces for connection. It's important to note that therapists provide can talk therapy and counseling services but do not prescribe medication—if medication is needed for conditions like depression or anxiety, they will coordinate care with a psychiatrist or primary care physician who can provide psychiatric medication management alongside therapeutic support.

How do I find a bisexual therapist?
The Psychology Today online directory is a helpful tool for finding bisexual-affirming therapists. You can use search filters to identify therapists who specialize in LGBTQ+ care and work specifically with bisexual clients. You can also filter by clinical specialties, therapeutic approaches, accepted insurance, session costs, and languages spoken to find the right fit. During initial consultations or early sessions, ask potential therapists about their specific training in bisexual-affirming care, their experience with LGBTQ+ clients, and their therapeutic approach to identity-related concerns. An effective bisexual-affirming therapist will demonstrate genuine understanding of bisexual experiences, including awareness of the unique challenges facing bisexual individuals. You can also look for credentials or continuing education in areas such as LGBTQ+ mental health, trauma-informed care, and intersectionality.
