I also enjoy exploring sexuality, gender, and identity and specialize in working with
bisexual
, pansexual, sexually-fluid, bi-curious, and label-free multisexual adults.
Wanting to be loved and accepted doesn’t make you needy, or extra, or selfish, or weak. It makes you human. In our work together my focus is building a relationship where you feel comfortable exploring what you think and feel, want and need. My style as a therapist is warm, relaxed, and conversational. I use playfulness, curiosity, creativity, and laughter to support the therapy process and I prioritize taking time to get to know you and what's important to you.

I specialize in working with BIPOC and Latinx clients, transgender and gender non-conforming individuals, folks from queer,
bisexual
, asexual, lesbian, and gay communities, folks who practice BDSM, non-monogamy/polyamory/relationship anarchy, and activists.
I enjoy working with supervisees as a thought partner, coach, supervisor, and mentor. I believe growth happens when we are rooted in our integrity, engaging curiosity, leaning into discomfort, and embracing humor. I have extensive experience supervising clinical and macro social workers, advocates, counselors and clinicians in community health, non-profit, and private practice settings.

I work with individuals and with non-traditional relationships including polyamory, ethical non-monogamy and I have over 20 years of experience serving the QUILTBAG (queer or questioning, undecided, intersex, lesbian, trans,
bisexual
, asexual or allied, gay or gender diverse). I don't name issues and disorders because labels are important to the people who pay the bills. Help, Support, and Knowledge from a person willing to stand with you when life is becoming hard and solutions aren't easy to see are more important then any diagnostic name or code for what ails you.

I am personally and professionally familiar with geek and gaming culture, and believe these experiences and identities have a place in a successful therapeutic relationship. Further, I have experience working with lesbian, gay, and
bisexual
individuals, and all members of the LGBTQ+ community are welcome clients. I believe in the power of community that is built on shared values and experiences. If you identify as a member of the LGBTQ+ and/or gaming communities and would like to explore these identities as part of your therapy experience, or you would simply prefer a therapist within these communities, we may be a good fit.

I provide affirmative psychotherapy that values diversity and respects the individual, including gay, lesbian,
bisexual
and transgender individuals and couples.
I am a licensed psychologist with 20 years experience providing psychotherapy and consultation. My approach is gentle, respectful and compassionate, including challenge and encouragement as appropriate. I offer short-term and long-term psychotherapy, emphasizing the development of a warm, empathic therapeutic relationship.
My treatment approach is integrative and most influenced by psychoanalytic, humanistic and developmental theories. Psychotherapy involves verbalizing your thoughts and feelings, exploring relational and behavioral patterns, and understanding how past experiences may impact you now. The needs and goals of the individual guide my therapeutic approach. My personal style is down-to-earth and interactive, with an occasional dash of humor.

As a queer or questioning person, you’re going to face some decision making. It can be overwhelming, confusing, and even all consuming. Questioning our relationships, religion, unconscious beliefs, and work life can take a lot of our energy. Most of my folx are looking for a safe, judgment free place to talk, explore, and navigate life choices without pressure or expectation. I don't believe in one size fits all programs; let's figure out what makes sense for you and tailor therapy to your needs.

Not Accepting New Clients! You might be realizing you need to talk with someone - that maybe you’re not handling things as well as you’d hoped. Maybe the What Ifs & the doubts have taken over, or you’re not feeling motivated anymore. You’re not sure how it started, but you’re tired of feeling this way. It scares you to think nothing will change. Maybe you’ve had a loss in your life, or maybe you’re just not happy with how often you use TV, weed, or alcohol to cope with things. Maybe you're not sure what to do to make changes. Maybe this is the first time you've considered counseling - if so, kudos for taking that first step.

I love supporting people in having more calm and peace in their body, mind, spirit, and relationships. I'm a Sexual Empowerment Coach, and I also work with folks on all sorts of matters outside of sexuality. I love supporting women in being empowered sexually, and supporting LGBTQ+ folks and others outside of the conventional boxes, like those who practice polyamory or other forms of ethical non-monogamy. I also help men embrace their sexuality, and teach them how to be better lovers to women, and help people release sexual guilt and shame. I often get feedback that people can open up to me in ways they've never been able to before.

Everyone has an innate ability to heal themselves once they decide to befriend the parts they leave in the shadows. Therapy can help you welcome these parts with compassion as they naturally integrate back into illuminated wholeness. There is no magic bullet. Knowing who you are takes time, but it is worth the inner journey required to find out. I offer support to anyone who is experiencing life transitions, issues with attachment and intimacy, psychedelic support, trauma, sexuality, perfectionism, shadow work, family and ancestral trauma and creative blocks.

How can I find a therapist in Seattle?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
