Past trauma can show up in our lives in tangible ways - cycles of conflict that repeat over and over again, floods of emotions that cause you to lose control, or feelings of intense loneliness in your relationship. I specialize in working with romantic partnerships who are ready to explore their traumas together. We will work to change the patterns that keep you “stuck” in the same arguments, and learn new strategies to help you feel safe in your body and in your relationships.

Add being a neurodivergent, queer, and otherwise marginalized human while trying to survive in a world that wasn’t built with us in mind, then it gets even weirder.
As a neurodivergent "queerdo"-turned-therapist, I believe therapy should be a space where you can be unmasked, unfiltered, and unapologetic. My approach is relational, attachment-focused, and existential. We’ll co-create a space that meets your needs, whether that means exploring special interests, taking it slow, or laughing through it together.

Life can be isolating at times. This is especially true when you add in ADHD, PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, chronic illness, and Queerness, cultural, and relationship issues. We hold so many identities and struggles that influence who we are and how we move through our place in the world. It is essential to find yourself among those identities and move into the whole version of yourself that finds comfort in the here and now. This includes finding your community and support through all that life throws at us.

You want to work with a therapist who can understand what you're going through, as a queer person, as a neurodivergent person, as someone with trauma, but doesn't project their experiences onto you or expect to "cure" you with easy answers.
I specialize in doing depth work with queer and trans clients. My approach incorporates elements of the psychoanalytic, existential, and feminist therapy traditions. These are rather different from most mainstream approaches to therapy, and involve less focus on immediate solutions, and more on helping you find direction and create deep and lasting change.

While behavior analysis is a well-known approach for teaching children with autism, I work with a variety of clients and families regardless of diagnostic status.
My experience as a behavior analyst spans educational, clinical, and home/community settings. I worked for several years as a special education classroom teacher and I feel strongly that parent involvement/training is critical for a child's success. I aim to provide children and families with tools to rapidly improve language comprehension and vocalization, replace problem behaviors, teach self-help skills, and enhance age-appropriate social skills. I primarily work with children between 2-10 years old, but have experience working with clients up to 21 years old.

I have worked extensively with neurodivergent ( Autism, ADHD, 2E) individuals and take a strength based approach to working with what keeps people going.
I work with a diverse caseload helping clients to build meaningful relationships not only those in their lives but their own central sense of self and system of values. In particular, I enjoy finding ways to bring geek and gamer cultural interests into therapy and utilize the things that bring people joy while providing a safe, supportive environment to explore their own life experiences while building on the supports that have helped them navigate their lives. I take a humanistic approach to counseling that encourages honesty and openness, since we're ultimately all just people trying to figure it out day by day.

Autism Therapists
What is the most effective treatment for autism?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) has come to be considered the standard treatment for children with autism spectrum disorder, and research has confirmed its effectiveness for many children. Therapists trained in ABA techniques work with children (and their parents) on developing social skills, communication and learning abilities, and everyday habits of hygiene and grooming. The clinician will tailor their program to the child’s particular need but the overarching goal will be to help them advance as far as possible toward independence based on their level of symptoms and decrease the need for additional special services. Families should seek a mental health professional specifically trained in ABA, and holding special certification in the technique, who has extensive experience not only with the approach but in using it with children with the same level of symptoms as the child who needs care.
How does ABA work?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) sessions, which typically focus on positive reinforcement, can be intensive, lasting two or more hours several times a week, and continuing for two years or more. Therapists can also be expected to ask parents to take an active role in reinforcing lessons. Research has found that the technique can lead to major improvements that decrease the need for additional special services.
How does treatment for autism work?
Therapy sessions based on Applied Behavior Analysis will likely be frequent, intensive, and highly structured. After a thorough assessment, a therapist will help a child understand and develop skills in a range of areas, including communication, motor skills, social skills, self-care, play, and academic skills, as well as routines of daily living like hygiene. Typically, the therapist will help a child break down the components of a behavior—often referred to as the antecedent (what prompts an action), the behavior, and the consequence(what immediately follows)—and then reward the child at every step, while also asking parents to reinforce the lessons, and the rewards, throughout the day. This core therapy may be supplemented by occupational or speech therapy, and antidepressants, antipsychotics, and anticonvulsants may be prescribed to address specific severe symptoms.
How long does therapy for autism take?
Some people with autism spectrum disorder may be engaged in some level of therapy for many years, but research shows that treatment will be most effective if it is begun early and delivered intensively. When therapy begins by age 3, children tend to be better able to grasp and adopt the skills needed to manage everyday life, including attending school and establishing social relationships. This type of early-intervention treatment regimen is highly structured, typically involving 20 to 40 hours of one-on-one therapy per week, along with additional hours of engagement managed by parents, for a period of two years or more, although the duration of treatment is dependent on the child’s level of symptoms and pace of progress.
