I work with men who struggle to manage
anger
, who are struggling to create and maintain emotional and relational intimacy, and men who are finding it hard to manage work stress, anxiety, and depression.
I seek to create a warm, down-to-earth, and accepting experience for you to explore the hard-ass things in life. Many of us, myself included, were rarely taught how to connect with and understand our emotions, and so when we experience difficult feelings like shame, fear, and pain, we don’t know how to engage them in a helpful way. But that can change. We will work together to promote positive change and restore direction, meaning, and resilience during these difficult times. We will be teammates in our work together.

I work with those who struggle with
anger
. Often times the
anger
is brought on by unmet expectations and merely a symptom of deeper issues under the surface. It's my job to metaphorically stand in a place you can not see, and point you in the right direction as to the cause of what is contributing to the
anger
. By doing so, you can receive insight that will enrich your life and change it for the better.

Whether it be depression, anxiety,
anger
or something completely different, you can change those unwanted feelings and patterns.
I take the mysticism out of therapy. We both know that not everything is "about your mother." Figuring out why you are the way you are can be interesting and even enlightening, but it's worthless if you're still experiencing the same emotional pain. You have the ability to make changes in your life. Things don't have to stay the same.

The problem with most approaches to
anger management
is that they teach that
anger
is an emotion.
If you struggle with
anger
, stress, and/or relationship conflict, I can help you understand what's going on and teach you effective, empowering, and expedient ways of growing stronger through your struggle. Remember, struggling is not the problem, struggling is a part of life, it's about learning to "struggle well." If you're tired of constantly struggling to understand; if the frustration is overwhelming; if your relationship, your job, or even your freedom is on the line, I can help.

I believe that therapy can benefit all of us. It helps to reduce stress and can improve our overall quality of life. If you are experiencing difficulties with mood, anxiety,
anger
, trauma or grief, I may be able help. In my experience, the most important aspect of therapy is the building of rapport between you and your therapist. With this in mind, I focus first on listening, being curious and respecting the fact that the people who I work with are the experts on their own lives. With a foundation of understanding then in place, we can work on achieving your individual goals.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
