I value providing culturally congruent, neurodiverse & gender-affirming, and adoption, trauma-informed care to meet you where you're at.
Accepting new clients. I frequently work with individuals who feel misunderstood and feel like they don't belong; those who struggle with trusting others but desire emotional intimacy, safety, and reciprocity in their relationships; those who are impacted by rigid, oppressive, and "normative" systems; as well as those who may be experiencing overwhelm and burnout related to masking, code switching, perfectionism, and “people pleasing.” My hope is to support you in healing from past wounds, gain adaptive coping skills, and acquire insight that enables you to navigate life's challenges even when our time together has concluded.

I am particularly drawn to working with interracial adoptees on how adoption has shaped the way you show up in relationships and move through the world.
I work with adoptees and anyone navigating identity, belonging, grief and loss or life transitions.
Maybe you’ve learned how to fit in, shape-shift, or keep parts of yourself tucked away. You may feel caught in the “in-between”, between cultures, families, identities, or even between who you are and who you want to be. This can show up as feeling disconnected from yourself or others, overanalyzing and second guessing.
Together, we’ll create a space to slow down and get curious about your story - the parts that feel hidden, the patterns that keep repeating, and the small moments of strength and ease you might not have noticed yet!

I also work with people who are involved in adoption-adoptees, birth parents, adoptive families.
Good therapy is a gift that you give yourself: a gift of understanding, compassion, and clarity. It can lead to better relationships and the ability to enjoy what is good in life, even when bad things happen. The saying, "What is shareable is bearable," forms the backbone of my philosophy. Being able to talk about what is troubling you can help you deal with stress and relationships. I help individuals process the issues causing them stress and I help couples get to the heart of their issues.

Are you experiencing emotions that feel hard to name or make sense of? Maybe you’re entering a new chapter, redefining relationships, or noticing parts of your identity feel less certain than they once did. Or maybe you just need someone to talk to. Even when change is meaningful or chosen, it can still feel heavy, disorienting, or lonely. Whatever brought you here, you don’t have to carry it alone.

I am now accepting new clients. I work with adults and teens experiencing trauma. Have you experienced emotional, physical, sexual, or religious abuse and wondered why it’s so hard to let it go? You may be insightful, have learned to “reframe,” and developed coping skills, but somehow you still find yourself struggling. Maybe you are new to therapy and tired of distracting yourself from emotional pain. Through trauma-informed therapy, I can help you heal from past experiences and start moving toward growth at your own pace.

I have training and experience in working with trauma, family of origin/generational cycles, attachment disruptions, complicated grief and loss, sexuality, sex work and with LGBTQAI+ persons and those who have experienced adoption both as an adopter or adoptee.
Well done on the first step towards paths of healing. Developmental trauma (experiences as we grow, including our family of origin) shapes how we see the world, sometimes unsafe and challenging to navigate. Our attachments are the foundations in which we trust or find conflict. Developmental trauma may manifest in the body as anxiety, stress, distress, relationship difficulties, depression and more. There is healing to be found here, to be understood and nourished. The most important aspect of therapy is finding a person who makes you feel safe and heard; "right fit" is vital. I look forward to collaborating. Accepting new folx.

Whether you are a professional navigating burnout, a parent dealing with the complexities of the foster or adoption system, or an individual managing high-functioning anxiety, I provide a space where you don’t have to 'mask' or explain your culture.
What sets me apart is my perspective as both a male therapist and a person of color. I understand firsthand the unique pressures of navigating spaces where your identity matters. I specialize in helping men of color, couples, and parents move past the 'numbing out' or the need to always be 'cool' and instead find real relief and connection.

Adoption Therapists
Does my adopted child need therapy?
Not every adopted child needs therapy. However, many can benefit from seeing an adoption-informed therapist, especially if they were victims of abuse or neglect, appear withdrawn or disconnected, have behavioral or developmental issues (which may or may not be related to their adoption), are struggling with feelings of grief or loss surrounding their birth parents, or find it difficult to establish an identity, a challenge that often becomes most apparent during adolescence.
When should adoptive parents seek therapy?
Prospective parents can benefit from therapy even before an adoption—for example, to voice worries and fears; to reconcile infertility struggles, if relevant; or simply to prepare themselves for parenthood. After the adoption, parents who are struggling to bond with their child; are unsure how to talk about adoption or related issues, such as race; or whose child is dealing with developmental, behavioral, or psychiatric concerns can address these and other issues with the help of an adoption-competent therapist.
Is family therapy appropriate for adoptive families?
Family therapy can be invaluable for strengthening the bond between adoptive parents and children, helping the latter feel more secure in their place in the family. Family therapy can also help adoptive families navigate complex communication issues—for example, parents who feel uncomfortable discussing race with their child, who in turn feels invalidated by their silence, or a child who has questions about his birth parents but avoids asking them out of fear of hurting his adoptive parents’ feelings.
What therapy is not appropriate for adoption issues?
A discredited therapy known as “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy” or “rebirthing therapy”) should not be used to treat adopted and foster children, though it was largely designed for this population. Attachment therapy involves restraining, coercing, and punishing the child in order for them to “release” negative emotions and attach to their new caregivers—techniques that are abusive and dangerous and have even proven fatal in some cases.
