I help clients find meaning, connection, clarity, and purpose. I am particularly well suited to working with clients amid life transitions, such as career changes, marriage and divorce, having or launching children, recovery from addiction, aging, and loss, as well as couples in distressed relationships. I aim to be fully present for clients, offering curiosity, careful listening, non-judgment, and authenticity. My approach is collaborative, honoring clients’ beliefs, emotions, and experiences as valid and true and recognizing them as the ultimate authority on the changes they seek.

We often place pressure on ourselves to be okay, power through, and be strong. Yet there are times when we need extra support. You may be navigating a major transition, experiencing anxiety or overwhelm, or grappling with grief. You may be a new parent trying to make it through the early postpartum months. You may be pregnant and preparing for big unknowns, or feeling alone in a struggle with fertility. You may be a parent wanting to reconnect with yourself. You may be navigating loss and grief and feeling totally under water. These are vulnerable, tender times when we most need to feel seen and supported with compassion and care.

You deserve to feel grounded, and at home in yourself. If you’re feeling stuck, anxious, disconnected from your body, or simply going through the motions of life, you’re not alone. You may be caring for everyone else while feeling lost in the process—numb, overwhelmed, or unsure of who you really are anymore. I help people reconnect with themselves, their bodies, and their inner wisdom so they can move through life with more confidence, clarity, and vitality.

For over a decade, I’ve worked in oncology supporting patients and their caregivers throughout their cancer treatment and bearing witness to some of the most challenging moments of their lives. In addition to offering support around illness and grief and loss, I support adults coping with anxiety, navigating planned or complicated life transitions such as parenting or retirement, managing workplace stress, existential identity challenges, and supporting the enhancement of healthy interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships.

Every life is a series of transitions, some of which can feel impossible to navigate. People and families can often feel ‘stuck’ in their current struggles and unable to overcome the challenges and changes they are experiencing. Whether the tough moments are navigating issues in daily life or processing landmark events such as pregnancy or parenthood, the need for support is valid and you don’t have to push through alone. Therapy helps you develop the tools and knowledge needed to bring out your unique strengths and abilities. No matter what age or life stage you are in, healing is possible.

The people I connect with most are those carrying more than they were ever meant to. Parents who lie awake wondering if they’re doing enough for a child whose emotions or behaviors feel impossible to hold. Couples who still reach for each other, even when the same arguments leave them tired and stuck. Individuals who move through the world with invisible weight—grief, trauma, shame, or questions about who they are and where they belong. What brings them to therapy isn’t just struggle, but a quiet hope that life could feel lighter, that connection could feel safer, that healing doesn’t have to mean doing it alone.

My mission is to help people & families understand their emotions so that they are less likely to be reactive & more likely to be responsive in life. During my earlier career as a research psychologist at the University of Washington I focused on working with youth & adults facing issues of homelessness & substance use problems. As a result I also studied & work with treatments for suicidality, personality issues, & a wide array of stress related disorders.

I'm a nurse practitioner turned empowerment coach. I worked in primary care for over 10 years only to find the system was failing those that really wanted to make changes to their life, physical and mental health. I started coaching to take a new perspective on healing. I believe that we are all human and cannot be confined to a diagnosis. I believe we don't need to be fixed but just need to be held in a compassionate, non judgmental light in order to see our higher potential. I am here to help you along life's journey and achieve your goals to live a happier and full life.

I see therapy as an opportunity to work toward growth, self-discovery, and healing. I believe that people come to me not only with where they may be stuck or hurting, but also with incredible strengths and abilities. Through warmth, collaboration, and direct communication I hope to help uncover patterns that are getting in the way of living well. I use an experiential, emotion + body focused approach along with art therapy and practical tools to develop new ways of experiencing and approaching the hard stuff in life.

As a therapist, I believe that building healthy and fulfilling relationships is the foundation of change in all areas of life. I work with both couples and individual clients in identifying and achieving personal and relational goals. In therapy, we will work together to understand the struggles that a couple or individual client is facing and provide helpful tools to navigate them. I am committed to creating a safe, honest, and collaborative therapeutic space with a dash of humor, where I encourage my clients to explore and challenge their negative patterns and beliefs to produce lasting changes.

Insight is the cornerstone of change. Oftentimes we know something is wrong, and what we would like to see different but the process of doing so is muddled and uncertain. You may be uncertain in how to identify and express your feelings, have complicated relationships, a shaky self-concept, have experienced severe trauma, or a variety of concerns. Therapy is a way to sift through complex emotions, memories and motivations to determine your path forward; what you want to retain, discard, or change. Therapy is like a tough hike: sometimes I will lead, sometimes you will lead, but I’ll always make sure we’re safe as we do.

I am passionate about working with couples, families, adolescents and individuals as they navigate all the various stages of their lives. Before studying to become a therapist, I worked as a high school math teacher for several years. Through that work, I discovered my love of walking alongside adolescents and their families as they learn and grow.

Life and our relationships with ourselves and others is not always what we imagined or hoped, and sometimes we don’t know how we got here or what to do to get unstuck. Therapy can be a powerful tool to invest in to gain insights and make change. It is a place to grow, heal, and transform to live a life more in alignment with our desires. As a therapist, my role is to walk beside you (with patience, humor, and compassion) by offering reflection, reframing, inquiry, and validation as you uncover your strengths, clarify your needs, and move toward a life more aligned with your intentions and values.

I work with couples, men, and emerging adults who look like they 'have it all together' but feel the weight of keeping it that way. Maybe burnout, people-pleasing, or disconnection has crept into your life. You’re driven and care deeply, yet you’re exhausted from trying to do everything right. The stress, anxiety, and self-doubt from these experiences can make it hard to feel steady or close to yourself or the people you care about most. I help clients slow down, untangle old patterns, and rebuild a sense of steadiness at work, in their relationships, and within themselves, so life feels authentic and manageable.

How can I find a therapist in Wallingford, Seattle?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
