As women, anxiety, depression, and trauma can at times interfere with our connection to ourselves and our connection to our others. The good news is that we can increase our self-awareness and welcome the parts of us that long to be included. When we feel more connected to ourselves, we have the ability to connect more with the world around us. We can grow in our inner wisdom and the ability to process information in a loving, generous way. We can have more fluid, flexible thinking, more self-acceptance, and the ability to live with the uncertainties of life. When we open, the whole world opens, too.

Therapy provides a space to process and reclaim experiences, thoughts, and emotions that may have felt stuck or weighed down by the pressures of our surroundings, cultural practices, and deep-seated personal beliefs. These barriers may be reflected in your family relationships, experiences of trauma and loss, and interactions with institutional forces. As a narrative-centered therapist, I will provide a supportive environment for you to deepen your understanding of yourself, challenge these barriers, and reframe your story in order to make empowered choices that align with your values and goals.

I see therapy as an opportunity to work toward growth, self-discovery, and healing. I believe that people come to me not only with where they may be stuck or hurting, but also with incredible strengths and abilities. Through warmth, collaboration, and direct communication I hope to help uncover patterns that are getting in the way of living well. I use an experiential, emotion + body focused approach along with art therapy and practical tools to develop new ways of experiencing and approaching the hard stuff in life.

I’m a Seattle-based therapist who believes that everyone makes sense once we understand where we’ve come from. The beliefs you carry today didn’t appear out of nowhere—they were learned, shaped, and often formed to help you survive. Together, we’ll explore where your belief systems began and whether they’re still serving you. In our work, we’ll gently unravel what may be keeping you stuck and begin creating new neural pathways toward truth, relief, and self-trust. You are the ultimate expert on your own life. Our work will be collaborative and individualized, honoring your story and your nervous system.

My goal is to help you feel more grounded, connected, authentic, and at ease in your life.

Loss doesn’t only occur when someone dies. At times, the grief that accompanies loss can be debilitating. Whether it is caused by the death of a loved one, the loss of a relationship, the loss of an opportunity, or the loss of faith in ourselves or our world, grief can make us question everything we know. But you don’t have to go through this alone. Together we can work through the pain of grief to accept the reality of the loss and adjust to living a new and fulfilling life.

People I work with often navigate: persistent self-criticism or shame, histories of trauma, difficulty managing anger or emotional intensity, grief, or life transitions that feel disorienting. Perhaps your mind moves fast, but tasks feel stuck. Maybe anger feels hard to control, focus feels elusive, or grief has left you untethered. You might long for connection, clarity, or simply a space where you don’t have to explain why it’s hard.

I support LGBTQIA2S+ and neurodivergent teens and adults (13+) navigating gender and sexual identity, family dynamics, life transitions, chronic illness, PTSD/CPTSD, and more. As an ally to those with marginalized identities, I believe our liberation is collective. I aim to create an inclusive, neurodivergent- and gender-affirming, sex-positive space rooted beyond Health at Every Size. Before becoming a therapist, I spent 10 years in direct service with immigrant, refugee, and unhoused communities. My lived experience and intersecting identities fuel my passion for social justice and shape how I show up in both my work and life.

I enjoy working with people from all walks of life and with diverse backgrounds to address issues of depression, anxiety/stress, ADHD, trauma, relationship struggles, and adjustment to life changes. I have particular interest in late teen/young adult development, trauma recovery and growth, and supporting those who work in other “helping” professions (healthcare, childcare, education, etc). I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to share in each person’s journey, providing encouragement, asking questions, and helping them identify and connect with what adds value/meaning to their lives.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
