I use a mindfulness-based approach to help clients uncover and connect to this inner strength and wisdom.
My therapy practice is committed to helping people live happier, healthier, more joy filled lives. Every single moment of our lives can unfold in infinitely creative ways, yet sometimes our problems seem overwhelming, or we find ourselves repeating negative patterns and we can't see the solution. Are you suffering from anxiety or depression? Are you longing for emotional connection with those nearest to you? Does your life lack a sense of direction, meaning or purpose? Are you suffering a loss, going through a job or life transition?

We’ll use ACT-based mindfulness to identify what’s getting in your way.
If you are an adult with ADHD, things like staying organized, sticking to a plan, finishing tasks, meeting deadlines, and remembering where you left your keys can feel difficult. The anxiety of falling short and feeling behind can eat away at your time and confidence, leading to frustration, discouragement, and overwhelm. But you’ve come this far, and in spite of the challenges (and sometimes loneliness) of having a brain that works differently, so much more is possible, at work, at home, and in your relationships.

Do you spiral down rabbit holes of anxious thoughts? Do you feel like an impostor and fear everyone will discover who you “really” are? Do you beat yourself up for things you “should” have done differently? Life is hard and full of stressors. The way our minds are hardwired often results in painful emotions, such as anxiety, depression, anger, or guilt. Like quicksand, the more we fight these thoughts and emotions, the worse it gets. But there’s hope. We can change our relationship with painful thoughts and emotions so they don’t prevent us from living our lives to the fullest.

You’ve spent most of your life looking out for others—now it’s your turn. You pride yourself on being resourceful and independent, both professionally and personally, but lately, you’re feeling burnt out and overwhelmed. Maybe past experiences are resurfacing, making it even harder to move forward. More than anything, you just want to feel less stressed and more like yourself again.

Anxiety, intrusive thoughts, or compulsive behaviors can feel overwhelming—like they’ve taken over and won’t let go. Maybe you’ve tried to manage it on your own, or even received supportive care from a therapist, but nothing seems to stick. It’s frustrating and exhausting. What you really want is clarity, relief, and tools that actually work. A way to understand what’s happening in your mind and feel more in control. Therapy should be effective and tailored to you—with an expert provider who is warm, collaborative, and truly invested in your care.

I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach and work to flexibly apply mindfulness and dialectical behavioral theories to meet you where you are and help you move in the direction you want to go.
Welcome! Therapy is a partnership in which we can work together to cultivate your inner wisdom and make needed change. You are the expert in your own life and I am trained in various techniques to support you in moving through the world in ways that bring you the most joy and satisfaction, while managing the painful moments effectively. I believe that mindful awareness of our emotions, thoughts, bodies, and behaviors is a foundation for living authentically. Our work will begin with me listening and learning about where you want to go in life and what makes it hard for you to take those steps.

Specifically, I draw from Relational & Attachment Theory, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT).
In our work together, I aim to help you explore your personal history to gain a deeper understanding of your current challenges and increase your self-awareness. I believe that early experiences and unresolved traumas can show up in our present lives, often influencing our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. For this reason, I see therapy as a collaborative process, where we work together to uncover the clarity needed for living more intentionally, thoughtfully, and with a greater sense of self.

I bring an empowering approach to clients, where I suggest techniques that use movement or mindfulness while ensuring my clients are in control of their therapeutic experience.
In my work with clients, I hold space of mutuality and acceptance. As we process together, I bring to our sessions a practice of presence that enables me to both hear and witness what the clients are experiencing. I look for patterns that clients seem to return to, shed light on them, and work to support my clients in discovering what release or transformation can arise as a result. In addition to individual adults, I have a passion for working with teens, parents, and couples. I love helping families grow stronger as they learn how to understand and connect more deeply with one another.

You can expect that we will utilize somatic experiences including mindfulness, felt-sensing, breathwork, meditation and gentle yoga based on your needs.
You may be feeling that something is off- something doesn't feel quite "right" to you. Perhaps you find yourself overwhelmed by your emotions, unsure how to manage them- feeling they are ruling your life. Or, you feel nothing at all, just numbness. Perhaps you swing between both extremes. Something within you may feel anxious, depressed, on edge-you might be unsure about what you are feeling entirely, and yet, your body seems to "know." You've heard your intuition whispering to you, but have been afraid to listen and trust what its communicating. You want to connect with your truest, most authentic Self and live the life you want.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
